Russian literature

I love Dostoevsky, who is one of my favorite authors; Tolstoy not so much. Gogol and Pushkin were great, and of course, you can't go wrong with Nabokov.

I also like Chekhov, Solzhenitsyn, and Turganev. I've got to say though, that I haven't read any Russian lit since my early 20's, with the exception of Nabokov. (I didn't even know Nabokov was Russian, lol. Haven't read much by him either, but Lolita is one of those books that is worth reading again and again).

I think hands down Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn is the finest work of literature ive ever had the pleasure to read.
also if you can find it, try Kolyma Tales by Varlam Shalamov. same topic (gulags) but in a short story form. very engaging.
