"100 Years Of Solitude" Synopsis?
"100 Years Of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of my favorite books. I always love seeing new viewpoints and explanations on this story.
Are there any online notes or discussions on this novel?

I haven't read it yet, but its on my list. I've bought about 20-30 books this year on ebay so, I've been getting backlogged like crazy. I read "Love in the Time of Cholera" about a month ago, and was very impressed. 100years of solitude will either be the next book I read or the one after next

100 Years of Solitude
I want to read this. I don't speak Spanish, and I was wondering if anybody has a particular translation that they can recommend or that they know to be better than the rest.
Thanks,
Dan

Okay.. so what am I missing with this boring piece of crap?
Do I need to read it in Spanish?
Or is this one of those snobby "Oooh, look at me! I read literature!" books?

I've read it in Spanish, and being a fellow countryman with Mr. Garcia Marquez, I feel ashamed to say I found it boring as well. I only got about 30 pages into it though. I asked my mom why it was so boring and she said she found it thrilling.
It may have something to do with our personal taste or perspective. But it's not because you read it in English.

I read it many years ago and found it fascinating. Not the easiest book to get into but if you stick with it there are ample rewards.
If you want unreadable give The Autumn of the Patriarch a try.

"The Autumn of the Patriarch" -- that's the novel that's just one big run-on sentence, isn't it?
