Know a genre they both like? Maybe get them some fiction they can share. My wife and I both love LOTR, Hitchhikers, SW, ST and share our books.

Relationship books are bad ideas for gifts. It's akin to saying that the relationship is destined to have problems.
My wife and I got a relationship advice book from a well-meaning family member at our wedding. We chucked it in the recycle bin. If our relationship ever begins to suffer and we feel a book can help, we prefer to pick the book out ourselves.

Sorry but I disagree, after reading many posts here recommending The 5 Love Languages as wedding gift I decided to just add it to $100 MO I giving them. No harm in that. I just forgot name of it week ago and thankfully a reply here helped me out, thanks again.

We read "the most important year in a mans/womans life" before we got married. It was actually pretty good. 1/2 is for the guys and the other is for the ladies. I enjoyed it and I have reccomended it to others as well.

One of the best couple relationship books I ever read and suggest as a wedding gift is "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. I have given away several as wedding gifts and they love the book. Also "Loving Each Other" by Leo Buscaglia.
