Stumbled onto Terry Goodkind site today

Found Goodkind official site as I was researching some authors trying to get a list of books I may like check out of library. Maybe I'm over reacting but is this guy really full of himself or what? Its like a huge overflow of testosterone, like that guy that sells fitness systems.
What do we know about this guy? Is he really so acclaimed or one of the elite most bestsellers? I immediately wanted to cross him off this list. Seeing that he also wrote Wizards First Rule, a book a decade ago I couldnt get past first hundred pages .

I read his first book years ago. Between the extended S&M sequence in which Our Hero is forced to have sex with a bunch of Really Hawt Women and the utterly implausible politics of the book (the mayor of the hero's home town tries to outlaw -- I swear I am not making this up -- fire), I had the author pegged for about 13 years old.

Just wait till book 6(?) I think. Communism = BAD. That's pretty much the entire plot...

I read his books.... I really don't know why. I don't even buy them... I borrow them. What little promise the series seemed to hold in the first few books seems to have been destroyed. I haven't enjoyed the last couple books.... I just can't stop myself.

Made it about 300 pages into Wizard's First Rule before I gave up. No need to read through such a cliched story with one-dimensional characters.
