that fone bone didn't really give enough reason to go back, he didn't mention anything about boneville or the bones throughout the story, but at the end he chose his cousins and not thorn. It wasn't that I didn't like the answer he chose it just didn't seem to have resonance. I thought the dragon ending was cool, reminded me of princess mononoke, but after grandma ben was being attacked phoney bone ran off and showed up later, where did he go? was he running away to hide? But it's sad that it's over. I still thought the ending was good and I liked it, but was sad to see bone end. But it also leads to a possible second story in boneville, because they were kicked out when the story started, so they still have to solve that problem too.

I thought that Fone Bone finally felt that no matter how much he cared for Thorn, the two of them could never have the relationship that he wanted to have with her, so he took off with his cousins. Unrequited love - whooda thunk that a little white schmoo would be so horny?
