Tonight I met my favorite author at a reading/signing, Chuck Palahniuk so his book Stranger Than Fiction is next.

So am I. A must read for wrestling fans. It's much better than I thought it would be. I'll finish it tonight.

Next up, most likely the new Dean Koontz.

I just finished Timeline by Michael Crichton the other day. Great book, I really enjoyed it. Not sure if I want to ruin it by watching the movie though (I've heard it's awful)...

Started The Gunslinger the day after I finished Timeline and today I went ahead and bought the next two in the Dark Tower series to make sure I would have vacation reading material (July 22-27) I'm loving The Gunslinger so far.

I just started "The Taking" by Koontz. Everyone said it sucks, but the first 70 pages have been good. Then again, it's my first Koontz book, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I just finished Alex Haley's Roots. Longest book I have ever read, and like everyone who reads it I am sure, made me want to find out more about my family history.

I am currently reading Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent. I find him riveting, but I just cannot read for more than twenty minutes at a time lest I have my mind completely blown.

I'd read this book a month or two ago, and though not bad it was a little slow for my taste. It is a fairly long book (649 pages) that could have easily lost a hundred pages or so. I thought he spent too much time setting the mood with overly descriptive paragraphs on the weather and how the house was decorated. I've read many of his books and they are usually fast paced if not somewhat predictable, but this one drug a little.

About a month ago, I was #80+ on the waiting list for Lynne Truss' "Eats, Shoots & Leaves - The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation" but checked my account and it seems I've already made it up the list. So I guess that'll be next -- I'm so curious why this grammar book has become such a sensation. (I do love the panda joke behind the title. )

It really kinda dies in the second half. It's not a bad read but it's overwritten. It's not his best.
