Stephen King should write his version of THE BIBLE
As a writer, King comes across on all emotional cylinders and allows depth of character to shine. He has used portions of the Bible in his books, has often paraphrased passages from the Bible in modern English.
I've tried reading the traditional Bible, and I've tried some so-called "Modern Translation" Bibles, to no avail. Something skips a beat in my head when I attempt to get into it, and if King were to write the Bible HIS way, I think it would be a great read.

Well you win the award for most original post in the book forum, congrats.
By the way, no, that's a silly idea. I don't think King would change much really, nor do I think he has any interest in making his own version.

King would write each chapter as a story, which is all the Bible really is - a collection of stories. And who's to say that King wouldn't be interested? He's used biblical atmosphere in some of his greatest novels - The Stand, to name one. Pet Sematary, for another.
He would be perfect for a project like this. Oh, Stephen, are you reading this??

No, no. King would not reinvent the Bible - he would just retell it, in his own words - from his unique perspective and his gift for storytelling.

I'm not so sure that reinventing Jesus as a Demonic Clown that eats children is such a good idea.
I'm not so sure that retelling the parting of the Red Sea with Moses getting doused with a bucket of pig's blood is such a good idea.

Does the Bible really need to be longer and even more boring?

So there is someone higher than the walkin' dude. I think he is just a minion of Satan. His right hand man if you will. His son maybe? If God sent his only son to earth to save humanity, wouldn't it be likely Satan would do the same, except to destroy it?
