The entire Dark Tower series is absolutely putrid. Thank God it's finally over...

You know I really loved that series, but to this day I wish I had just stopped reading it after the fourth book.

Amen, 2 and 4 are two of my top five King books...but I hated 5-7.

I considered myself one of the many original tower-freaks and I completely agree. What an extremely disappointing finish - IMO.

The seventh Dark Tower book is my favorite, so different strokes I say.

Yeah, I'm just over 200 pages from finishing the DARK TOWER series at last
Spoiler:
Roland and Susannah have just crossed the Badlands and are preparing to breach the Castle of the Crimson King
, and unless Stephen King takes a quantum misstep with these last few chapters, I think you DARK TOWER 5-7 detractors are out-of-your-gourd mad. Though I'm prepared (unless something really extraordinary happens in the last 200 pages, for which I still hold out hope) to consider Book I: The Gunslinger to be my favorite of the series (by a razor slim margin), this series has been solid entertainment all the way through (though I was crushed by
Spoiler:
the death of my favorite character, Jake Chambers
)...

Of the ones I've read, I'd go with Tommyknockers. That book is a chore to get through.
