The Commitments Trilogy?
I was reading that "The Commitments" movie was based on the first book in a trilogy by author Roddy Doyle.
I loved the movie and would like to get the books, has anyone read these?

Yeah, they're all good, and can be purchased in one volume called The Barrytown Trilogy. The three books (The Commitments, The Snapper, and The Van) all look at the Rabbitte family, though each book focuses on different members, more or less, though the father is a main part of the last two.
And of course, all three were made into films, though I thought the The Van was fairly lousy, compared to the book. I did like The Commitments the best of the three, both book and film-wise. I liked the book's ending compared to that of the film, personally. But yeah, they're well worth picking up.

I really enjoyed all three, liking The Snapper the best (perhaps because my teenage sister was also knocked up at the time I was reading it).
I like Roddy Doyle's writing quite a bit. At the moment I'm reading The Woman Who Walked Into Doors.
