How big is your "To be read" pile?

Hi everyone

last night I was going though some tub like containers that I keep my books in and I realized I have 2 30 gallon containers filled with books I have not read yet. I also have a shelf that is about 2 feet long piled 3 deep with undead books. There is also more in the basement. I think I might have a problem....

How big is your unread pile?

I think we need to clarify a little - is it simply unread books, or books that you're going to read?

Because, as a reviewer, I've got <whispers> thousands <whispers> of unread books, from which each New Years I collate a "Required Reading From the Collection" list of 500 books... And then there's the "to be read immediately" stack (people are paying, I've got deadlines) - that's 12-15 books at any given time...

I have a little over 200 books or so that stare down at me all day, desiring...no, demanding to be read.

I fear an insurrection shortly if I don't acquiesce to their demands.

Couple of Chuck Pahlaniuk books I bought at a signing, and one or two books I picked up for 10 cents at a garage sale...

... since a lot of people will read a book, then leave it forever, garage saes are AWESOME for finding barely-used books.

I rarely buy the books anymore, though. I mean... there's a library down the road. Why pay?

Probably about 600, counting the tons of books I've picked up at used bookstores and remainder tables.

Around 20-30, but most are books that will take a while to reflect on them (mainly non-fiction stuff)

Right now it's around 50. I hope to get some of them done as I will have a lot of free time when I get laid off in a few weeks.

I believe it's around 25 or so. &nbsp Most of those have been laying around (in stacks) for years. &nbsp I don't think I'll ever be able to catch up.

About 40 or so. Time to stop making trips to the used book store, it only adds to the pile.

I keep track of all the books I want to read with collectorz.com book collector.

I have 840 books I want to read that I haven't yet, of which I own 548.

I probably have close to a hundred sitting around. I decided I wanted to go to only paperbacks, which meant waiting a couple years for many of my current favorite authors to get a new book out and then have it come to paperback. So I went and found several new authors and just picked up all their stuff at various book sales. Now I am plowing through those waiting for my faves to catch up, and making some new favorites along the way.

392 books, consisting of 328 novels, 51 author collections, and 13 multiple author collections... which when counting each story contained within individually equals 911 stories.

Yes I keep way to accurate records of the books I have.

Not nearly as big as my "games to be played' pile or "dvd's to be watched" pile.

A few DragonLance books
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Digital Fortress (reading now)
The Da Vinci Code

The 2 HP books and DVC are being saved for my flight to and from Hawaii .

Add these to my pile, just picked them up today:

Eragon
The Once and Future King

Paid less than $20 for both, so I am happy .
