Which LOTR edition is best?
I got an email from my sister who is looking to buy a set for her boyfriend. This is the email she sent me.
I've been doing some research, and it seems like the LOTR dorks like the Leatherette Edition better, but I think the Alan Lee Illustrated version is better.

I'm gonna get him The Hobbit and LOTR.

I went by Barnes & Nobles to look at them. The Leatherette one was beautiful. But the Alan Lee one had nicer print, and amazing art work.
Maybe you can post a question on DVD Talk and see if people have a preference.

Take it to Book Talk, n00b.
The Leatherette Edition looks nice, but that Alan Lee artwork is simply gorgeous. I'd go with the Alan Lee edition.

I prefer the Extended Editions.
