I'll play.
Starting Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids by Kenzaburo Oe, tonight. A short book but it's been on my to read pile forever. After that I'll probably start Mission Compromised: A Novel by the great, great Oliver North. |
Just started re-reading Return of the King over the holiday weekend.
|
Re-reading A Civil War by John Feinstein since the Army-Navy football game is this Saturday.
|
Originally posted by B.A.hist Just started re-reading Return of the King over the holiday weekend. I'm also just digging into Easy Riders, Raging Bulls by Peter Biskind. |
Will be finishing up T.M. Wright's The House on Orchid Street in the next day or two.
After that I have to go to California for 3 weeks on business, so I'll bring some books for the flight and to read in the hotel room before I go to bed: Wally Lamb - She's Come Undone Robert Frazier - Cold Mountain Iain Pears - An Instance of the Fingerpost Stephen King - From a Buick 8 |
The new Paul Auster, Oracle Night. Not quite as grandly bizarre as his early work; a bit more mainstream.
Re-reading The Dead (Joyce) Catcher in the Rye (Salinger) and Mr Ives' Christmas (Hijuelos) for a non-traditional Christmas reading feature I'm writing. Then on to Mark Helprin's Winters Tale, my top choice for winter reading... |
Gideon by Russell Andrews. So far, it's a nifty thriller. One of those I-can't-wait-to-see-what-happens-next novels.

Originally posted by PalmerJoss Me too. I've been taking my time reading all of the LOTR books over the past 2 months. |
Finished Wolves Of The Calla.Absolutely incredible. King still has it.
Next up, The Cellar, by Richard Laymon. |
Birds of Prey by Wilbur Smith. After reading about it so many times in this forum, I had to read it.

Charlie
When I reached the half way point of Birds, I went out and got Monsoon. I also found Blue Horizon, the follow up to Monsoon, used for 10.00. Then I won an ebay aucton, 10 Wilbur Smith books for 10 dollars. Then I won another Wilbur Smith auction. 5 books for 5 bucks. Not to bad, eh? |
Just finished Dark Tower One and Eyes of the Dragon. Now I'm heading back to finish off the Star Wars universe by reading the final two in the New Jedi Order series. God, am I still reading this garbage?
|
Reading Michael Stackpole's DragonCrown War Cycle (finishing When Dragon's Rage)
I might go back and read George Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series, though the next book isn't out until April :( I still need to pick up the last New Jedi Order book. I've been loving that series, and I'm sorry to see it end. |
xenocide by orson scott card. Book 3 of his Excellent Ender series.
|
Currently reading From a Buick 8 - King
Just finished - DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons (one day each, good reads) From a Buick 8 is one of King's "narrative" stories. I am about 80% done and not all that impressed. I will re-read the first 4 dark tower books again before reading Wolves of Calla. Can't wait :) |
Just finished
Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett. About halfway through Wild Justice, Philip Margolin. From a Buick 8 definitely is different. It's slower, and more character-oriented rather than plot/action. I read it, and enjoyed it, but I don't know if I'll ever reread it. |
Jerry Lawler's It's Good to be the King.....sometimes
|
Stayed up late last night to finish Wizard & Glass. Not sure if it's King's finest Dark Tower installment, but good nonetheless.
Next up, I'll continue the saga with Wolves of the Calla. |
I just started the Dark Tower series with The Gunslinger, so far I'm really liking it.
|

Nothing. I return to law school next month so I have no plans of reading anything until class starts. 8 )
|
I read The Gunslinger in one day, what a great book! I already have the next two installments, and I'm hoping I can get #4 at Targét today.
Right now I'm reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown and Key of Light by Nora Roberts. |
Reading The Drawing of The Three again.
|
I just tore through James Patterson's The Big Bad Wolf, the best Cross novel in a while.
Started Simon Clark's Stranger. |
Just started the Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, reading "A Game of Thrones" right now.
|
Just finished Return of the King. The LOTR books just get better every time I read them.
Just started Snow Falling on Cedars by David Gutterson, and so far loving it. |
On to The Wastelands, when's a door not a door?
|
I just finished Prey by Crichton. Quick read.
|
Finished "Leviathan" by Paul Auster last night. Not sure if I should finish up one of the other books I've started before or start something new.
DJ |
Just started:
Monkey Dancing: A Father, Two Kids, and a Journey to the Ends of the Earth by Daniel Glick |
Finished Hubert Selby Jr.'s The Room last week. Click the link for my quickie review/recommendation.
NR; Thomas Jefferson's autobiography. |
Just finished Stephen Hunter's Pale Horse Coming and just started Three to get Deadly by Janet Evanovitch (?).
|
I'm still reading throught the appendices from LOTR, and recently started Jack Higgins' The Keys of Hell for a quick read.
|
I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" this month.
|
Drawing of Three by Stephen King and The Interrogation by Thomas H. Cook.
|
I'm tearing through a couple of graphic novels I borrowed from the library.
Powers: Who Killed Retro Girl? - This was fantastic. Very easy read, great art, and a nice story. JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice - Going to start this in a few minutes and hopefully finish it. After these I will start The Civil War: Secession to Gettysburg. I'm fascinated by anything Civil War related, so I cannot wait to start this one :). |
I finished Musashi by Yoshikawa. Then I read Dicken's A Christmas Carol. Now I'm onto The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb.
|
Beaver - Did I see correctly that you read the Civil War books by Foote? I saw you gave them a 10/10, that has me even more excited to get started.
