With Yuletide upon us, I've just gone out and bought some <A HREF="http://www.ursulakleguin.com/UKL_info.html" target="_blank">Le Guin</a> for my 13 y/o niece and <A HREF="http://members.ozemail.com.au/~xenophon/bio.html " target="_blank">Alan Garner</a> for my 11 y/o nephew. December will be my month of reading some <A HREF="http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=103697" target="_blank">classic childrens' literature</a> from my youth!

Sessa17 11-30-03 07:50 PM

I'll play.

Starting Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids by Kenzaburo Oe, tonight. A short book but it's been on my to read pile forever.

After that I'll probably start Mission Compromised: A Novel by the great, great Oliver North.

B.A. 11-30-03 10:20 PM

Just started re-reading Return of the King over the holiday weekend.

Cory02 11-30-03 10:33 PM

Re-reading A Civil War by John Feinstein since the Army-Navy football game is this Saturday.

Me too. I've been taking my time reading all of the LOTR books over the past 2 months.

I'm also just digging into Easy Riders, Raging Bulls by Peter Biskind.

RevLiver 12-01-03 10:14 AM

Will be finishing up T.M. Wright's The House on Orchid Street in the next day or two.

After that I have to go to California for 3 weeks on business, so I'll bring some books for the flight and to read in the hotel room before I go to bed:

Wally Lamb - She's Come Undone
Robert Frazier - Cold Mountain
Iain Pears - An Instance of the Fingerpost
Stephen King - From a Buick 8

WillieTheShakes 12-01-03 11:56 AM

The new Paul Auster, Oracle Night. Not quite as grandly bizarre as his early work; a bit more mainstream.
Re-reading The Dead (Joyce) Catcher in the Rye (Salinger) and Mr Ives' Christmas (Hijuelos) for a non-traditional Christmas reading feature I'm writing.
Then on to Mark Helprin's Winters Tale, my top choice for winter reading...

Charlie Goose 12-01-03 03:53 PM

Gideon by Russell Andrews. So far, it's a nifty thriller. One of those I-can't-wait-to-see-what-happens-next novels.

It took me a little longer to read The Two Towers (particularly the second half) than I thought it would, but I have just plowed through this book in a couple of days. I forgot how much I enjoyed it.

smokedragon 12-02-03 03:15 AM

Finished Wolves Of The Calla.Absolutely incredible. King still has it.

Next up, The Cellar, by Richard Laymon.

Braddok 12-02-03 04:18 AM

Birds of Prey by Wilbur Smith. After reading about it so many times in this forum, I had to read it.

Excellent book, I hope you enjoyed it. Read the sequel, Monsoon, next. Heck, read any Wilbur Smith.

Charlie

When I reached the half way point of Birds, I went out and got Monsoon. I also found Blue Horizon, the follow up to Monsoon, used for 10.00. Then I won an ebay aucton, 10 Wilbur Smith books for 10 dollars. Then I won another Wilbur Smith auction. 5 books for 5 bucks. Not to bad, eh?

bishop2knight 12-02-03 08:53 AM

Just finished Dark Tower One and Eyes of the Dragon. Now I'm heading back to finish off the Star Wars universe by reading the final two in the New Jedi Order series. God, am I still reading this garbage?

Draven 12-02-03 04:32 PM

Reading Michael Stackpole's DragonCrown War Cycle (finishing When Dragon's Rage)

I might go back and read George Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series, though the next book isn't out until April :(

I still need to pick up the last New Jedi Order book. I've been loving that series, and I'm sorry to see it end.

MrBob 12-02-03 06:54 PM

xenocide by orson scott card. Book 3 of his Excellent Ender series.

Tsar Chasm 12-03-03 12:34 PM

Currently reading From a Buick 8 - King
Just finished - DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons (one day each, good reads)

From a Buick 8 is one of King's "narrative" stories. I am about 80% done and not all that impressed.

I will re-read the first 4 dark tower books again before reading Wolves of Calla. Can't wait :)

tonyc3742 12-03-03 01:34 PM

Just finished
Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett.
About halfway through
Wild Justice, Philip Margolin.

From a Buick 8 definitely is different. It's slower, and more character-oriented rather than plot/action. I read it, and enjoyed it, but I don't know if I'll ever reread it.

edytwinky 12-04-03 02:46 AM

Jerry Lawler's It's Good to be the King.....sometimes

Geofferson 12-04-03 10:26 AM

Stayed up late last night to finish Wizard & Glass. Not sure if it's King's finest Dark Tower installment, but good nonetheless.

Next up, I'll continue the saga with Wolves of the Calla.

SideShow 12-04-03 01:51 PM

I just started the Dark Tower series with The Gunslinger, so far I'm really liking it.

Be sure to stick with it and real all the installments - you're in for a real treat!

Anjanettea 12-04-03 08:22 PM

Nothing. I return to law school next month so I have no plans of reading anything until class starts. 8 )

SideShow 12-05-03 03:40 PM

I read The Gunslinger in one day, what a great book! I already have the next two installments, and I'm hoping I can get #4 at Targét today.

Right now I'm reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown and Key of Light by Nora Roberts.

Samuel 12-05-03 06:28 PM

Reading The Drawing of The Three again.
