questions about plot of The Day of the Jackal

doesn't seem to be cliff notes for this book and i had to read it in 2 days so i was wondering if anyone who read it can help me fill in some holes.
1) who besides kowalski informs the CRS people after the jackal about what the jackal is doing? they seem to know his every move.
2) the character valmey (spelling?) is working for the OAS, but is he also working undercover as a CRS agent? so is that why he let the jackal through at the end of the book when he wanted to go to apt. to set up his assassination?
any other clarificatino would be nice. like i said i read this book really fast and even though it is an easy read i obviously missed some parts. thanks.

In answer to your first question: the ones after the Jackal are the O.F. people. They're called Otters, or something.

Question 2: He is not a CRS agent per say, he used to be an Otter, but left the Farm before the book started. They reference it about midway through.

He lets him through because, he too, was a former Otter.
