Easton Press shrink wrap: retain or remove?

As stated in the subject, I'm wondering if I should remove the plastic shrink wrap from the books, or should I leave it on until I intend to read it?

You're going to read the shrink wrap?

Unless your not planning to read them for 5 or 10 years, I'd say rip that stuff off.

I got a question...

I was in borders the other night and I saw The Ring, but the damn_thing was shrinkwrapped. Am I allowed to bust open the shrink wrap before I buy it?

I wanted to check out the translation before I bought it.
