I finished Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, and began Goliath, by Steve Alten.

Page 30 was blank. As if it was written in invisible ink.

Now, I'll have to go back to the bookstore and exchange it.

Probably will start Darkfall, by Stephen Laws.

I finished Brin's Kil'n People and must say that despite a good start and an amusing premise (spare short-life bodies into which consciousness - or a reasonably facsimile thereof - can be down and uploaded) the chase was better than the catch: I felt the book flagged in its final 100 pages or so.

Now reading, Felaheen, the third (and final?) book in Jon Courtenay Grimwood's excellent Arabesk sequence; a world where the Great War turned out differently and the Ottoman Empire never quite ended.

Just finished OotP and the revised Gunslinger, and started Ender's Game last night. I might read the rest of the series this time, including the new parallel books.
Also reading Prehospital Emergency Care 6th Ed. for school.

The Roald Dahl book is a collection of his short stories, intended for adults, that I stumbled upon in a used book store. He exhibits the same twisted humor and vivid imagination that makes his children's books so wonderful, but these stories are darker and more grotesque and, as I said, definitely intended for adults.

I'm probably gonna pick up the Talisman (King, Straub) after I finish these two. I'm kinda ashamed that I haven't read it yet. I got Black House at a used bookstore for $1, but I'm afraid I'd spoil it if I read it first.

I just wrapped up HP and the Chamber of Secrets. Will start Prisoner of Azkaban today, and hopefully wrap that up with an all-day read. Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix both arrived in the mail yesterday, and will be read asap. Should keep me busy for the rest of this week at least.

Great Tales of Science Fiction [one of those big thick books that bookstores have in the front of the store for 4.98 or so--this one has the story R.U.R., which introduces the term 'robot', which I've never read before

The Fourth Procedure; Stanley Pottinger, I think. Very interesting medical drama/mystery.

Just traded in two boxes of books to a bookstore for ~60 dollars credit; have to go spend that sometime : )

Baker's novel seems to be a jump back to his early novels, like The Mezzanine and Room Temperature where it is really a severe slice-of-life/almost-stream-of-consciousness kind of book; in this case, the thoughts of a man watching a fire burn.

Finally started on American Gods, by Neil Gaiman.

A friend keeps telling me that I have to read Illuminatis, but it'll be a while before I get to it.

I've been reading The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Damn good read.

I'm then going to re-read The Wolf's Hour by Robert McCammon.

Christopher Buckley: Washington Schlepped Here -- Funny and informative guide to our nation's capital.

Gene Riehl: Quantico Rules -- Excellent debut thriller about an FBI agent (written by an ex-agent) investigating the background of a Supreme Court nominee.

Valerie Block: None of Your Business -- Witty, acerbic satire about accountants, cops, socialites, and other NYC types. Funniest book I've read all year, with a terrific mystery plot to boot.

J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -- LOVED it. Maybe my favorite of the series. Best thing I've read all year.

G.M. Ford: A Blind Eye -- Third in a series, but the first I've read, about an ex-NY Times reporter who now writes true crime books. Straightforward, unassuming mystery plot, very well handled.

Still reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

I just finished Delta Force: The Army's Elite Counterterrorist Unit by Col. Charlie A. Beckwith (Ret.) and Donald Knox. Great book.

I'm going to start reading Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton since I bought the first four books of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series as a set.

I recently read American Gods and it was a great book.

I just finished University by Bentley Little and I do believe I will be reading more of this guy's work. Very good stuff.

I just started Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter. I have finally purchased all of the Swagger series and I'm going to read them in order. This book has already grabbed me and I know I'll be in for a good ride.

Ghost Story by Peter Straub

I'm starting the Dark Tower series.

Naked Prey by John Sanford, to be followed by The Vanished Man by Jeff Deaver, The Arraignment by Steve Martini, and the Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum.

I have had these books in the house for awhile, but I've been devouring all of Harlan Cobens and Michael Connellys books the last couple months.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban-Fantastic book, easily the best of the series so far! First book I have read in the series without seeing the movie first. Can't wait to see how they do some of this stuff on the big screen.

I've decided to re-read It's Not About the Bike, Lance Armstrong's wonderful book in preperation for Le Tour to start on Saturday morning . Right after that it will be onto HP and the Goblet of Fire. Can't wait .

Anyone else a fan of Christopher's magical realism?

Don't judge the whole series by the first book. It was very much written as a tester, from what I've read.

If you really want to know what the series is about skip to book three "Circus of the Damned", it's pure Anita Blake and a mile aminute rollercoaster ride IMO.

My next big read will be "To The Nines", by Janet Evanovich. I just hope she pulls the quality of this one up as it has been plummeting with the last few books.

Thank goodness you said that because I didn't think the first book was all that great. I just finished it last night. I'd give it maybe a 3 out of 5.

Laurell Hamilton seems to have left out a lot of details...I hope she fills them in in subsequent books.

Finished "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez. Highly recommended if you're into that sort of thing.

Also read "Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein. Great sci-fi but a little too preachy towards the end.
