Could anyone recommend any books (classic or contemporary) that deal with vanity as its central theme, especially the vanity of a woman.

Thank you.

I haven't read it, but isn't Bon Fire of the Vanities about 80s vanity?

Thanks for the reply but you could you or anyone eloborate on my question? It is actually quite urgent and I would need it within 24 hrs but it really isn't dire; just some research I need. I am doing a story and need a specific story of someone (a woman) who is very beautiful yet vain. The type of vanity that demands that another clean up their mess. Sorta like in THE GREAT GATSBY where people are constantly cleaning the mess that Tom and Daisy always leave behind. Do you know what I mean??? The irony of the situation: the ugly repairing the beautiful; the poor to the rich, etc....

Thanks.
