Can you read when you're stressed?

I've been under major stress lately. I have a vacation coming, but I'm suddenly in financial trouble, and I'm forced to work overtime to meet deadlines here at work.

Usually, I like to read about 2 hours a night. It helps me relax. But lately, I can't concentrate on any book. I'll read entire pages and not know what just happened. I guess my stress now outweighs my relaxation techniques.

Anyone else ever have such a problem?

I know what you mean. There are times when my mind is racing with so many things going on that I cannot concentrate while reading a book.

I still try to read thogh and force myself to relax.

Sometimes I am distracted and have to go back a few pages to re-read but that isn't really to do with stress.

When I was a child I used to go to my room if annoyed and bury myself in a book: it actually de-stressed me!

I can read if stressed, but I'm usually too distracted to retain much. Usually end up rereading paragraphs over and over.

I usually try to relax when reading. but sometimes I just can't do it. That is one of the reasons why I don't read as much as I would like to. I like to have a lot of quite, uninterrupted time to read.

Reading is the ultimate relaxation for me. I lose myself in the book, and forget everything else.
