I can't help you with a forum, or even a good book on WWII, but I can direct you to an interesting article I stumbled upon just an hour ago at the American Philosophical Society's website, if you're interested. "The Gita of J. Robert Oppenheimer" deals with how J. Robert Oppenheimer used the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita, to deal with his inner struggle with and eventual justification of creating the atomic bomb. I've only read the first 20 pages so far, but so far the gist is that since he was a scientist, his job was to discover how to make the bomb, and not to determine whether it would be used or not (a policy decision).
I'm not quite sold on Oppenheimer's reasoning, or rather, his adoption and interpretation of the Bhagavad-Gita's reasoning, but he does have a point worth investigating if you've ever wondered how in the hell Hiroshima and Nagasaki ever occurred.
Click the link, and there at the top of the Contents is a link to the article, in PDF format. It's 45 pages, and 228K.

Whether or not you have any luck on the Web you may care to try Usenet. A few newsgroups with likely-sounding names are:
soc.history.war.world-war-ii rec.aviation.military rec.arts.books.hist-fiction
