Rumor alert..next Harry Potter titles???

This from cnn.com
----
A Reuters search of the UK Patent Office trademark database confirmed the extra titles as "Harry Potter and the Alchemist's Cell," "Harry Potter and the Chariots of Light" and "Harry Potter and the Pyramids of Furmat."

Warner Brothers filed the titles for registration in April 2000, shortly before the publication of the fourth book, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," whose title was also filed at the same time, the records show.

Warner Brothers filed "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" for registration as a trademark in October 2000.

Rowling's agent said none of the registered names would be used for any future Potter book

check this link Rowling's agent said none of the registered names would be used for any future Potter book. He further states that there is no plans for an 8th book... "The plan is to have only seven books in the series," Neil Blair, of Christopher Little literary agents, told Reuters. "There is no truth in the rumours."

Personally I hope she keeps writing about what happens after Harry gets out of school... his kids... prequels about his parents and young Hagrid and Dumbledore... all I can say is that they can't come out soon enough for me...

prequels and all? really.

I enjoyed the movie and the book, but I'm willing to take a series for what it is. All things must come to an end.

As for the names, well, WB registered them for a reason. Maybe side projects of some sort? toys?

an interesting idea... but I would think that JK would have to be involved in any side projects, toys, spinoffs whatever... and as far as her agent makes it sound like he (and presumably she) had never heard these names before.

and about the idea of prequels... I just think that this is very fertile ground for a lot of books (and movies) and having read all four books (just finished G.O.F.) I am really hungry for more.

Maybe its a way to throw off speculation on the titles of the upcoming books so that people keep guessing?

So you are assuming he doesn't die at the end then, huh?

Heh Heh. Actually...

Rowling herself has given the same answer when asked about books after the orginal 7. "How do you know tht Harry doesn't die?." Can't remember where I read it but I am certain that I did.

I read that too, but dont remember where... she said something along the lines of: "How do you know I'm not going to kill Harry off?"..."just kidding"..."or am I?"...

Spoiler:
I think I remember reading a rumor that a major character would die off in Book 5... did anyone else hear anything like that?

J.K. Rowling has also gone on record as stating that the last word of the last book will be "scar."

She has apparently already written the final chapter. It's just the books in between that seem to be coming at a snail's pace.

Harry and Cho lay back in bed, and each lit up a cigarette.

"Well, Harry, how was it?"

"Not too bad, Cho...I could have done without you repeatedly licking my scar."

THE END...?

Harry is gonna hook up with Ginny in the next book I tell you. Cho's not gonna give him any play after what happened in Goblet of Fire.

I've speculated with friends who think Hagrid might buy it, considering his "what will come will come" line in GOF and the fact that his loss would be devastating to Harry since he was the one who rescued him from the Dursleys .... intersting.

My suggestion as to the title of book 5:

"Harry Potter and the anal retentive billionaire author who is too busy deciding on the best looking toy tie-ins to maximize her profits instead of getting on with the wonderful story that made her rich in the first place"

Really, I love the books. I think it is some of the most imaginative storytelling to come along in a lot of years, and ANYTHING that gets kids interested in books is amazing IMO, but please, get back to the books. Leave the movies and the trading cards and the games and the stuffed Hagrids and the action figures and the Bertie Bott's Beans, etc. to someone else!

I don't think that Rowling has any control over the marketing aspect anymore. I know she used to be completely selective in what was released, but I think she sold the merchandise rights to Warner Bros. when they bought the film rights. Besides, anyone can get writers block, and I would rather her try to work around it than just pump out a quick sequel that is of sub-par quality.

They turned Ginny into a plot device in the movie Chamber of Secret. I bet they're going to feel real smart when they become an item in the book, and all the backstory of her crush was DELETED from the movie.

I think it was there if you wanted to look for it, but a big deal wasn't made about it.

THE END...?
Voldemort and his Death Eaters laughed, their faces alight in delight as the magical flames consumed Hogwarts. The final victory had been won and his Dark Wizards cavorted through the ruins. The last victims had been fed to the dementors earlier that night but Voldemort was well satisfied.
Sitting back he lifted his favorite trophy, a skull, cast in bloody light by the fires. Burning brightest of all was a most peculiar mark, a lightning bolt shaped scar....

Thus begins Series Two: Hedwig's Revenge
