J.D. Robb "...In Death" series: Anyone reading?
I really like this series and look forward to a new one every six months. It there an estimate on how long the saga will go on for? The characters of Eve and Rourke are involving and complex but *sigh* I know it can't go on forever

oh this is great! I was thinking...man, am I reading the most unpopular book series ever with no replys, lol.
Eve & Rourke are really amazing characters. I wondered if they would even attempt a movie on one of the books and who would play them.

I actually went to her site as well hoping for a little more on how long she was going to continue to write with the series but *alas* no
It will be interesting if Eve & Rourke decide to start a family

It's a pretty good board and Nora posts on it

Bump from the dead!
So my sister in law is a big fan of this series, and has loaned me some of the books. Is there a good reading order available? The one on the official site looks to be wrong (Midnight is listed as number 5 and number 25), and there are novellas thrown in along the way as well. The first 24 or so seem to match on most lists that I've seen, but after that it seems to get confusing.

Re: J.D. Robb "...In Death" series: Anyone reading?
Welcome!
I read (and reviewed) one of them a couple years ago... I can't remember which one, since the titles are so generic. It was better than I expected it would be, but not enough so to motivate me to read any more. But they're certainly quite popular.

Basically a romance novelist masquerading as a mystery novelist. Bland and generic. Mediocre writing. For people who like James Patterson. Not for people who like Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin or George Pelacanos.

And what if you like James Patterson and Michael Connelly, as I do? Although if you click the link in my signature, you'll see what I have thought about most of Patterson's more recent work.
I'll give it a try, but I am not expecting much.

I find it hard to believe someone could like both-Connelly is a very good writer, good characterization, dialogue, sense of place. Patterson's books read like an outline for a book-bland writing, dialogue, characterization is non existent. Connelly is like Goodfellas, Patterson is like a Lifetime network movie.

Re: J.D. Robb "...In Death" series: Anyone reading?
I know plenty of people who like both Connelly and Patterson. I consider Connelly to be the superior writer, of course, but that's not to say that Patterson (et al) doesn't occasionally produce an entertaining work.
Still, few match up to Connelly in my judgment. Looking forward to cracking open The Scarecrow.
