More DUNE help needed

With the new Butlerian Jihad DUNE prequels coming out, I have more DUNE requests. I know I've had a Dune thread here before, but I wanted one more set of opinions.

I read the original DUNE. Loved it. Read it in like three sittings. DUNE MESSIAH was a good read, but much slower. CHILDREN OF DUNE, well, it didn't all suck. The first half was a pain that I almost didn't make it through. The ending was decent, however.

So, everyone, give me your opinions on GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE. Is it better/worse then the others? Am I going to kick myself for attempting to finish the series? Should I just stop altogether?

i liked god emperor, mainly for the character of the emperor.. i thought that the latter two books, heretics and chapterhouse, where picking back up the pace of the story. And like I mentioned in the one thread about re-reading books, I can't just read one and not read all six (nine if you count the prequel trilogy) books again. I say read them all, if only for the continuity, but I'm betting you'll enjoy them.

God Emperor of Dune is very different from the previous 3 but I believe its worth a read. I started the next book after that but had since been distracted by the 007 novels by Fleming, which I highly recommend and you could get a good price (~$1 per paperbck book) off ebay.

BTW, I was thouroughly hooked on the 3 prequels when they came out.

My personal answer is that I cannot remember. I'd loveto read them all again!

From the tail-end of your last thread come the following two posts:<small>

I'm about half way through The God-Emperor and so far the series has been rather spotty.

Dune was great, i think i read it in about 10 hours i was so engrossed.

Messiah was interesting, but not as good.

Children of Dune was pretty bad, IMO. There were parts i liked, but lots of problems.

God-Emperor so far seems pretty good, but still not as good as the first one. And i might revoke the pretty good if by the end some things haven't been explained.

I have finished God Emperor of Dune. I needed a break after God Emperor. Pretty slow moving. Will read Heretics of Dune sometime this summer.

Read them all anyways. Not like you've got anything better to do.

I already mentioned that the "prequels" have some major spoilers in them about things that don't occur untill later on in the original series.

I kind of thought God Emperor was really Herbert's expression of a life philosophy or something. I didn't care for it much. Haven't read Heretics or Chapterhouse. I really enjoyed the first prequel novel but haven't read the other two yet.
