Twelve

Has anyone heard/read the book "Twelve"? It is a new book just out giving a satirical glance at the rich kids of Manhattan and their wastrel and spoiled ways.

It is being compared to BE Ellis's "Less Than Zero" and even a couple have compared it as a run off of "The Catcher in the Rye". To top that off, I hear it was written by a guy who just graduated high school so it is getting the expected hype.

Anyone?

Sounds positively awful. The 18 year old kid who wrote it is supposedly from parents who are already well established in the publishing industry.

So again - it's not talent that gets you in the door - it's who you know.

Nepotism completely sucks ass.

I just imagine the career I could be having if daddy and mommy were in either the legal field or the publishing arena.

grunter stomps off to find someone to kick.

Yeah, I just read that yesterday which turns me off to it. I read the first chapter online and ...ehhhh...whatever. It completely disgusted me after I read both his parents were in the industry and the publisher who first read the book and then immediately bought the book said something to the effect that he had known the writer since he was 48 hours old or something.
