Library bound ???

I'm finding this pops up in searches more and more often. Exactly what is "library bound"? How does it differ form hardcover?

A library bound book is sturdier than most other hardcovers. It's made to hold up to frequent readings. The bindings used to be sewn, but I don't think that's true anymore.

This may not apply to many books, but when I got a library bound book about 15 yrs ago it was a hardcover version with the dust jacket picture printed directly on the cover itself - and no dust jacket included at all. And the cover was a laminated paper, not linen or the regular paper used for a hardcover book.
