Book Exchange Forum?
Just was thinking that a book exchange forum might be something fun to add to the book talk area. I've found buying used books online to be pretty spendy when you add in shipping, and places like switchouse never seem to have the books I want....
Could be a good resource if people used it
Thoughts??

I think it's a great idea. Books are getting so damn_expensive it would be nice just to pay for shipping.
Plus, I usually read them and put them on the bookshelf never to be read again (I always say to myself I'll read it again, but I never do...).
I'm for it.

Not really necessary IMO. You can find nearly anything you're looking for at a good price at half.com. I've been crossing stuff off my "unfindable" list time and time again over the last 1 1/2 years or so thanks to this site. And most stuff -- especially the old paperbacks I'm looking for, are generally really cheap, esp. for being OOP.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I don't think I'd use it.
I tend to be pretty picky about what I pick up to read nowadays (too little time to read) and so I rarely have anything I'd want to trade away.
Of course, I haven't made great use of the DVD Exchange forum either, so I'm probably not the target group for a feature like this.

I probably wouldn't use it, I keep all my books (and games, cds, dvds, etc.) unless I accidently get a duplicate... On the other hand, I now have about 2 boxes full of duplicates, so I might have something to trade off.

I think it would be cool to browse through some lists for trade I myself could offer many paperpacks, maybe find some titles I have been meaning to get. All for it.

I am really picky about what kind of condition my books are in, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. When people receive books that are in worse shape than they are expecting, things could get complicated.

I'm all for it. I rarely read a book more than once and don't really care what shape they are in. When you buy stuff at used book stores they are yellowed and crap anyways.

I'm the same way (unless it's a book I plan on keeping, then I buy it new).

I don't see any problem with individuals experimenting with such a thread here.
Of course people would have to "play nice" and realise the need for common sense to prevail; particularly when dealing with anyone with whom they were less than familiar.
(Probably worth looking at the way things operate on the DVD Exchange Forum first....)
