Just wondering if you're out there?

I discovered him by accident and was really hoping to dislike him (long story ) but I really enjoy his work.

What's your favorite Crais novel?

Robert Crais is the best. I also found him inadvertently when I read Voodoo River a few years ago. I've read all of the Elvis Cole novels, and I plan on reading Demolition Angel very soon.

Yep, I started reading his Elvis Cole novels a few
months ago and love them. I still prefer Robert
Parker's Spenser novels (even if they've gone down
hill a bit) but Crais is almost as good.

I'm sure that I would also like the Spenser for Hire novels, but I would be unable to read any of them without picturing Robert Urich or Joe Mantegna. Both fine actors, but preconceived ideas about a character usually ruins it for me. Crais has had many offers in the past to sell TV/movie rights to Elvis Cole and Joe Pike, but he has always refused for exactly the same reason.

I know what you mean. Fortunatly I started reading them
years before they were filmed so I built my own mental
image of Spenser (a slightly better looking clone of
Parker himself). Robert Urich is too handsome but not
too bad as Spenser. Joe Mantegna is incredibly bad casting
and makes it difficult for me to watch what are otherwise
pretty good productions of the later novels.
