Thanks for the links, unfortunately I don't have a borders around here. I may just do that deal you sight unseen, as I can probably sell it for more if I decide it's not for us.

Check out this link for locations of nearby stores that carry the Sony Reader. Found it on a thread on the MobileRead forums. Apparently some BestBuys do carry them. And I'm sure you'll be able to sell it for more than you pay for it now or later. The e-ink displays are still pricey.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately the only 2 locations "near" me are Shopko's 130 miles away, and I would guess they don't even have them on display. (I didn't even know shopko was still in business)

I have one - paid $350 on December of last year and have no regrets at all. This is an amazing device. One cool thing that I didn't see mentioned is that it takes SD memory as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo for expandability.

Yup. Raw pdf's do not show up well on the Reader. There are some conversion software programs available. But for $10, the convenience of having all of these books formatted for the REader and clearly legible is WELL worth it!

Which deal? The $10 Silk Pagoda deal is for the DVD with "10,000 books" in Sony Reader format. The $60 deal (expired end of Sept.) was for a Sony Reader, which retails for about $300 (and it's hard to find a discount on it!). Sony just released the new PRS505 model, which has a slightly improved screen, slightly rearranged controls, and a few other tweaks.
BTW, Amazon will be releasing it's Kindle electronic book soon with wireless built in. And the new Cybook Bookeen is being beta tested. They all ue the e-ink display, which is *far* easier on the eyes than any lcd or other computer screen.
