for me personally as i jump around alot for whatever catches my eyes when I picked up a copy of Off Season by Jack Ketchum i went out and read whatever I could find by him.

I like King, but it seems i like parts of his books then the entire thing as a whole.
House of Leaves and while not quite horror i enjoyed WWZ by Max Brooks

The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, The Terror, Carrion Comfort and Songs of Kali by Dan Simmons, Books of Blood by Clive Barker, Ghost Story by Peter Straub.

With regard to Simmons, Song of Kali is very good. Summer of Night is also fantastic, as is The Terror. Wasn't a huge fan of Carrion Comfort.
