Monkees Limited Blu ray set back in stock
They found more sets!?
https://monkeesstore.warnermusic.com...s-blu-ray.html
It is over $200 with shipping but cheaper than recent $800 dollar prices on ebay.

I'm tempted mostly for the inclusion of 'HEAD' which is going for 60-80 bucks by itself.
Saw a post saying that of the first 10k sets, they only sold about half, then 'lost' the other half. Maybe they've been found?
Someone else mentioned some quality issues with the set but I don't know details.

I think this will be the last chance ever to get it for a reasonable price. Rhino was a music label that always stuck to shockingly limited production runs for their premium items. Their Rhino Handmade boutique label products are outrageously priced on the secondary market.
Despite being a fan of their music, I only have passing familiarity with the TV show. Never seen more than a handful of episodes.

Regarding Head, I had no idea it was a rarity anymore. I have in in that Criterion box as well.

I wonder if they repackaged the set after fixing the quality-control issues before selling them now.
Here's a link from 2016 that details the damages and missing/bad discs and responses from people who purchased it:

I did a quick check to see if they're charging shipping... yep. $8. With sales tax I'd pay an extra $25 for this already overpriced set. How can they justify charging shipping for a $200 set?

I bought it. I had always regretted not buying myself a copy and once it sold out, I had even considered just nabbing some bootlegs but always waited, hoping it would be re-released.
Knowing my luck, these remaining ones are being released right before a 4K or budget release announcement of them.
I was actually thinking of buying another copy. One for myself and one to sell when these run out. One set sold on eBay in Feb for $1200!!! And most others were selling in the +/- $750 range! The price has already cratered on eBay right now but is still selling in the $400 range. Can you imagine being the guy who bought their copy for $1200 and then seeing it for $200 just two months later?!?! I would likely have a heart attack.
I got mine off the Monkees site. They have a bundle which throws in a T-shirt for 5 extra bucks. Total with tax and shipping for it was $233.39.

I noticed the product description says, "This collection is strictly limited to 10,000 individually numbered boxes and once those are sold out, this edition and bonus disc will never be available again.".
So, it wouldn't surprise me if a new, budget-priced set is on the way.

Hate to say it, but I think that's what's going to happen.

Most folks aren't expecting a Budget release until the LE is sold out (or mostly gone).

I really wish they would re-release the Handmade Limited Editions of their albums. I missed several of them the first go around and now the two I haven;t been able to acquire for a sensible price (their first album and The Birds And The Bees) go for hundreds of dollars.
Limited Editions are bullshit. Let the people have what they want. So dumb...

Re: Monkees Limited Blu ray set back in stock
Limited Editions bring out FOMO and help ensure people will purchase products at inflated prices rather than wait for a sale.

Re: Monkees Limited Blu ray set back in stock
I seriously doubt they were sitting on them intentionally. There are several variations out there about why it's been missing for over 2 years, but someone
the Indiana Jones explanation is about as reasonable as any -- i.e. all or significant portions of the items buried/mislabelled/lost somewhere in the warehouse or facilities.
There's really no good reason for Rhino or Warner to intentionally hide them unless they were the one's selling them on Ebay which doesn't seem likely.
The touring Monkees band (Mike and Micky Show now down to Micky Celebrates....) apparently had access to at least a certain number of copies they were selling at (or as part) of the concerts though I'm not sure
how many those would sell

Yes, I tried to get the money together and did not have enough time. It is indeed out of stock again. Maybe a similar set will be re-released and not be a limited edition in the future. OR it's back again to e-bay.

maybe they will release a non-limited edition version in the future? fans for years to come will probably want this... unless there are valid/legal issues...

Re: Monkees Limited Blu ray set back in stock
Most Rhino stuff stays limited, unfortunately. I believe it's tied to clearances and licensing rights, which aren't cheap. Knowing the market, I don't think we'll get a general release of this set.
