Still no deal on Deep Red 4k. I know I’m gonna cave and end up paying forty something.

Another Arrow Video sale, this one at Grindhouse Video. The usual titles at the usual prices, but the Shaw Brothers box at $90 seems to be a new low.

As a former owner of that set, I say why not. They're, uhh, shitty films overall, but it's hard to deny the filmmakers' sense of commitment . . .

For the record, I have seen the first, and Zombie Pestilence as well, but maybe not recently enough to come to my senses. Perhaps if I throw in the Coffin Joe 3-movie collection I will be redeemed.

New MVD Sale on Film Detective and Kit Parker Films titles. About time, too! I've had my eye on most of the Film Detective Blu-rays for ages, but aside from a few bargains at Hamilton Book, they rarely get this low:

They're DVDs not blu-rays, but Hal Roach fans should note that this sale includes 3 volumes of Charlie Chase talkie shorts made at Roach, as well as collections of Thelma Todd/Zasu Pitts and Harry Langdon shorts. I'd be all over these if I didn't already own them; they are well done sets.

re: MVD Shop sales thread

MVD is having an Arrow Video sale. I didn't buy any movies but I did snag their book selections, because they are $4.99 each and the Cult Films of Arrow Video is $14.99. I did not buy the Lonewolf and Cub book, because that one is still regular price ($24.95). My grand total was $43.47 with sales tax and flat $5.99 shipping.

And another for Canadians at Unobstructed View. Pretty soon, every new week will be reason for an Arrow Sale, not just holidays . . .

re: MVD Shop sales thread

The sale at the Arrow store worked out best for me, so I bought :"Deep Red"
"The Bird With The Crystal Plumage"
"The Black Cat"
"The Cat O'Nine Tails"
"Alice Sweet Alice" ( this one was a $5 DVD )

When I went to checkout, a separate unexpected promo code appeared - something like "3 for 2 on selected Blu Rays". "The Cat O'Nine Tails" ended up being free. So I got all 5 movies for $65 & change shipped.

Worth looking into if you're thinking about buying 3 movies. EDIT : I actually found the list of the "3 for 2" movies. Here you go : https://www.arrowvideo.com/bluray-de...priceAscending

Re: Deals Thread for Cult, Genre and/or Non-Region A Blu-Rays

MVD Shop Black Friday sale:
https://mvdshop.com/collections/blackfriday2023

Just FYI, three Blu-rays in particular that I bought in last year's Black Friday sale are considerably more this year:

ACTION USA
Last year: $8.99
This year: $14

ONE DARK NIGHT
Last year: $8.99
This year: $13

ANGEL TOWN
Last year: $7.99
This year: $13

FALCON RISING:
Last year: $2.99
This year: $10

Flat rate shipping is now $7.99, up from $5.99 last year.

On the plus side, a lot of the Code Red and Scorpion Blu-rays that were in the recent $5 sale at RoninFlix, plus some that have been OOS there for a while, are here for similar prices.

All of the prices you listed are wrong. Action USA is 9.99, One Dark Night is 8.99, Angel Town is 8.99, and Falcon Rising is 6.99.

Re: MVD Shop sales thread

You're right. My bad. I think the site was defaulting to Canadian pricing, which drive me nuts on most of these sites. Weirdly, I only see the Canadian prices on my desktop. On my phone, I see the US pricing. And I don't see an option to switch pricing, which many sites do allow.

Mind you, there are several titles there that are definitely more expensive. Three that I listed are still a little higher than last year, when you'd think they might be cheaper because they're older. Overall, though, there's still some good prices to be had. I'm just trying to figure out which Code Reds and Scorpions I haven't already picked up.

Re: MVD Shop sales thread

Oldies.com has the same prices on the MVD sale. They don't have all of the titles though. Shipping is free if you spend $75 or more... otherwise it is more.

Re: MVD Shop sales thread

Already placed an order at MVD, but building the same cart here didn’t meet the free shipping threshold, so it balanced out I guess. Mind you, nearly everything I bought was duplicates of older purchases because the resale is pretty decent up here, so I could be tempted to place a bigger order here for free shipping, although my better judgment says not to.

Re: MVD Shop sales thread

First week selections of the Martial Arts Month sale at MVD Shop are up. Nineteen titles only, all Arrow, but a new(-ish?) low on the Shawscope Volume 2 at $69.65, although $8 flat rate shipping puts it closer to Amazon's brief drop to $79.99 back in December, I think. Still, this is a wee bit cheaper for those who missed that, although I still suspect these will drop even cheaper down the road as the clock runs out (i.e. maybe $60 as per Hamilton Books on the first box). I only need two titles in this sale, and both are new lows, but the shipping kinda scotches the deal.

Not bad pricing at $14.65 for each of the Shaw three- and four-packs, which gives you all the titles from the first Shawscope collection for about $52 shipped.
