re: Arrow Video Sales Thread (ArrowFilms.com & ArrowVideo.com)

Didn't order anything as I looked at my collection and noticed how many un-watched/sealed titles I have.

Pretty good sale, though. Maybe next time.

re: Arrow Video Sales Thread (ArrowFilms.com & ArrowVideo.com)

Good news for any Fassbinder fans:

I started Merchant Of Four Seasons/Beware Of A Holy Whore.

Despite stating "Region B", it is actually region free. The print of Merchant (all I've seen so far) is also excellent (which generally wasn't the case in the Arrow DVD boxes.)

I'll post again after I watch all 7 individual Fassbinder blu's that I got. I will be surprised if the one's Criterion has done are region free, but you never know.

re: Arrow Video Sales Thread (ArrowFilms.com & ArrowVideo.com)

I just realized the 7 available Fassbinder br's that I bought is the complete oop blu-ray box without the box.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=269686

Petra Von Kent is also region free; I expect that they likely all are.

All 7 Fassbinders are labeled Region B, but they are region free. Woman On The Run is labeled both A & B, & plays fine in A.

I feel really stupid (embarrassed?) Apparently I had my Oppo set for region B & than played a bunch of region free USA discs. The Fassinders & 1900 are region B locked.

ARROW FILMS Halloween Sale through Oct 18

I'm surprised that this hasn't been announced here but Arrow is having a sale on their site where a lot of their Horror blus are 50% off.

It's a great deal for their region free stuff or if your player is region free.

I got all 4 House films for 44 bucks shipped to the States.

I posted about it in the Cult/Genre thread, but I agree that it's deserving of its own thread!

Sorry Adam! Didn't see it there.

This is a great sale. I wish Shout/Scream's Halloween Sale was just as good.

Have said this before, but I really should get a region-free player.

I've had good luck with my Seiki SR4KP1. It looks like they're getting a little tricker to find, though.

Re: ARROW FILMS Halloween Sale through Oct 18

They've also been doing weekly $3.99 sales on iTunes. Here's this week's batch of movies:

Basket Case
The Vampire Doll
Evil of Dracula
The Crazies
Don't Torture a Duckling
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave

Looks like no extras in the Arrow titles in iTunes, right?

Re: ARROW FILMS Halloween Sale through Oct 18

It's indeed a great sale, but the only problem is that I already own pretty much all the titles I want that Arrow carries, albeit inferior versions. So almost every disc I buy is only an upgrade for PQ/extras.

But that's the whole point of buying Arrow titles!

But when I see I have THREE Blu-Rays each of Carrie, The Thing, Phenomena, and Tenebrae, that's when I start to wonder if I'm spending my money wisely.

Most are just the movie. Some of them have extras. And I've seen extras added later. So more titles might have extras in the future.

Out of this week's list, The Crazies is the only one with extras.

But some other Arrow movies are packed. Deep Red, Re-Animator and Donnie Darko all have a ton of extras.

I think I say that every time there's a sale on UK Arrow titles. The new City of the Living Dead release is driving me even closer.

Thanks. Tempting, but think I’ll hold out hope for one more holiday sale season that a mod-able one will turn up at Costco (return policy).

Thanks Dave! Only checked the first couple earlier, but heading to iTunes again to check out The Crazies...

No titles that interest me this time. I may bite on the next Noir sale.

No offense, but that seems like an oddly specific plan. I'd research which players are available NOW with good reviews, and start that way.

I'd also suggest that if a region-free player is on your horizon, why not start collecting discs now when they're on sale? Instead of holding off, buying a Costco player later, then not having any discs on sale when you do get one. Or is it that we both know if you get some Arrow discs, you'd be compelled to get a player to play them on, and might end up overpaying for the player?

Re: ARROW FILMS Halloween Sale through Oct 18

Two questions from someone that only has a few of the US box sets. (I also have the House UK set)

1. Which Arrow version of The Thing has the best transfer?
2. Which Arrow titles are considered must have?
