For me, BF (season) is less about picking up stuff just because it's ridiculously cheap and more about trying to find a good deal on stuff I've already had an interest in

Of course having said that I have to admit that I did just the opposite with the TT sale at SAE. The early sell out frenzy made me order way too many titles that will sit at the bottom of my "to watch" pile for years, or that were at a higher price level relative to my interest. I'll likely turn around and throw many of those up unopened in the exchange section in a couple weeks at cost or below.

Otherwise I'm at about par with years past in terms of overall media spending. Maybe even slightly lower. I went light on the B&N Criterion sale and there were no uber expensive TV box sets as in years past (Batman, Lost In Space, WKRP, etc) nor was there a Warner Archive 5/$50 sale where I'd usually drop a couple hundred bucks alone.

This looks like it will be the third year in a row I get absolutely nothing from Amazon - what happened to their Blu-ray/DVD calendar with hourly deals? Is that gone completely this year?

They haven't even listed deals ahead of time, for the most part. I've yet to see a BD lightning deal that I knew about before it was already occurring.

Luckily, becuz of this particular site, LDs weren't even close to a necessity this year for me (well, they never are, but I've been blessed to be 100% successful with them in the past, rendering in-store shopping meaningless). So, thank you all for what you do.

All i've picked up so far is Finding Dory from Target. I decided to pass on other titles like Star Trek Beyond and X-Men Apocalypse as I cut back on media purchases.

Happy with the movies, not so happy about the prices. My sweet spot is $4 to $5, of which I normally get from Walmart. This year, Walmart had $6,7, 8, 9 and $10 pricepoints - most of which were $10...seems the days of getting $4 BDs are all but over. had to adjust my budget accordingly

I just got a region free player, so got a lot of wish list items from UK. I was thinking of not getting anything locally, but realize that this could be the last year these places offer physical media at all. Perhaps next year there won't even be BDs at brick-n-mortor stores...While I was tempted to get some Criterions at 50% off, I limited myself to one box set and 1 movie. pretty pricey stuff even at discount.. the others I will getting MOC from UK for about 1/4 the price of Criterions.

In general, a good haul that will last me throughout the year...

I remember being by my computer at some ridiculous hour to get the Home Alone 2-BD set for $14.99- and being happy that I'd gotten it since it sold out within seconds. Now you can get those 2 separately at Target for about the same price. Just wasn't anything to be excited about this time around, though Band of Brothers and The Pacific will probably have been worth it. (Got the first episodes of each on Vudu for free a while ago but never had time to watch them, now I'll need time to watch all of them plus the extras.)
