My whole investment in the series is likely to be less than $100. Buying the entire season set only adds a cheap cardboard box—and that ain't worth $70!!

I didn't read about that deal :( May have been posted in the Target thread but if there's a deal about an item that a bunch of people would like I make a thread for it.

In absence of the other deals the complete set seemed like a good deal. But since release, these seasons have been available at various online outlets including Foxconnect cheaper individually and the only thing you get with the complete set is a cardboard box. My comment was not intended to cast aspersions on you but rather Amazon's pricing. I always appreciate it when people share individual deals.

What that post meant, is why didn't anyone post a separate thread about it?? (And if you read my post I myself am buying them one by one).

If you want the most up to date deals, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. It's definitely not as lively here as it was in previous years.

Yeah, it hasn't been lively in most forums in recent years. People are selling off collections. Though many are turning to digital, I believe people have less disposable income for these "wants."

Many of us have large collections and we don't buy as much.

Many of the long-time users on this forum are super collectors that have most everything released they deeply want.

Understood—I'm one of 'em. Been frantically buying up titles that I had sold off a few years ago. But in the past there was a constant flow of new movie enthusiasts getting into collecting. But many are increasingly digitally-oriented and/or under employed. They have no interest in these forums. I suspect many of the current forums will change focus or disappear entirely—much like the packaged media sections at retail.

Well, other collectors forums (like b-r.com) are really on top of deals. That's where I usually check first.

I don't know...sometimes I find things here first. I also occasionally check BD dot com but its nothing like it was 7 or 8 years ago...but then again neither are the deals. The website depends on and of course caters to Amazon and I rarely buy from that company after years of loyalty. Especially now that you must spend $49 to get free shipping and you are denied purchasing items that are reserved for Prime members. I understand its like a "club" membership but I don't find the benefits worth the cost of admission any longer and 9 times out of 10 there are better deals found elsewhere.

I check BR.com, SD, and DVDTalk, and missed it :(

SlickDeals has become a poor source for following media deals. Very few Blu-ray or DVD deals make it over there anymore since Amazon mostly got out of loss leaders.
