Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I bought eight - there were about 50-60 $4.95 titles at the local store I hadn't visited with this red sticker but most were of no interest or I already had the title. These were all new dvds (I noticed some of the red stickers mentioned the discs were "used"):
single discs: New Year's Eve Dean Martin Christmas Show 1968 Pepe Le Pew complete collection (17 cartoons) two-disc sets: Rebel Without a Cause The Best of Mr. Ed Volume 2 (20 episodes) The Aviator/Shutter Island The Enforcer/The Gauntlet Absolute Power/True Crime |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
DVD but I just picked up Hobo With A Shotgun there. Never was a huge fan of that one, but I'll support Dollar General if they stock titles like that.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
After the massive sale late last year, I hadn't been checking into Dollar General much. I was at a store on Friday and there was some $2.95 BDs on a display. Nothing too exciting until I spotted this one. Even the 70 year old cashier said that's a pretty good deal on something like this.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
When those triple sets first came out, they were like $49 or $69 each !!!
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
That's a steal!
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Supposedly some Blu-rays at Dollar General have been reduced to under $2.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I went by a few DGs this afternoon, and it looks like they've gotten their Halloween movies in. Most of the Blu-rays were $4.95, but a few were $2.95, most notably the original Psycho.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I'll be stopping at my DG on the way home. Thanks for the heads up.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Remember the huge sale prior to last Thanksgiving?
It appears as if a similar BOGO deal begins on Sunday. Will they ring up even cheaper? Only time will tell. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Uh, do you work at a Dollar General store or something, Cardsfan?
The only black friday sale for Dollar General stores is a big toy sale and the Legends Flashback console thing for 30 bucks. Thats it. There is no super black friday sale going on for movies for this year |

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
youre thinking of last year's sale.
This year's Black Friday sale for Dollar General theres only a big toy sale such as Legos. Thats it. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
He stated it started Sunday which is 5 days before Black Friday.
|
well you make it sound like Black Friday sales started this Sunday.
Next week is Black Friday so this coming weekend on Sunday there might be a half off sale for DVDs and blu ray movies at Dollar General Stores, But not right now anywauy Its annoying that you're making it sound like this recent past Sunday just started for black friday 2018 sale on movies at Dollar General. Next week this coming Sunday this coming weekend, maybe. Jeez louise |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
He never mentioned the words "black Friday." You did. Reading comprehension.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
I apologize for the huge can of worms I opened.
Edit to add: I am not aware of any Black Friday deals at Dollar General. And I am not employed by Dollar General. :) |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Ahem.
Cardsfan assumed there was going to be another BOGO deal for movies. I was correcting him a little bit that was the sale from last year. He/she does not know what Sunday ad sale will be for Dollar General this coming sunday even if its for Black Friday. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Sorry for the digression, folks--back to the topic at hand.
I'm planning to hit a Dollar General or two when they open on Sunday morning--if the glitch is indeed in effect, I'll post and let everyone know. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Im not making another trip to the Dollar General store since Ive been going there back and forth for horror movies during Halloween time. Time to take a break anyway.
If there is even a Black Friday sale going on for movies DVD and or blu ray Ill check out the Weekly Ad on line the website for Dollar General |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Here's an ad scan from The Couponing Couple that shows the BOGO DVD and Blu-ray sale:
http://www.thecouponingcouple.com/dollar-general-ad-11-18-18/3/ Note that it's only good Sunday through Wednesday, and that it specifically states the $4.95 price point. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Ill believe it when i see it officially if it even happens for this upcoming Sunday's weekly sale for Dollar General stores.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
So much racism in here ... why can't people just be more accepting? Why should the race of the sale matter? It's about the sale that's inside.

The only DVDs and blu ray that are on regular sale are this years Halloween horror movie selection which is mostly of Silent House, Nightmare on Elm Street 5, Final Destination 4, House at the End of the Street, 1970s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, old Children of the Corn, Unrated Hellraiser II, Hellraiser 1, Elvira movie and The Birds and Psycho DVD double pack.
also regular movies theres Boyz in the Hood and Underworld 1 for blu ray and the usual peg warming Blu rays of Terminator 3, bare bones Prometheus and one or two copies of Taken 1 and Porkys and whatever else |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
As promised, I went by Dollar General this morning, and...
THE GLITCH IS BACK. As a test, I grabbed The Magnificent Seven and Wall Street. Remarkably, it's the same as last year; each item rings up at half-price ($2.48), and then each is further discounted by half ($1.24), bringing the final cost of each to $1.24. I'm not sure as to whether you actually have to buy two to get the second discount; I'll leave that for someone else to discover. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Well the BOGO sale for movies both DVD and blu ray, you have to buy the ones that are 4.95
So if you buy two movies that are 4.95, then you get the other second movie basically free I guess. |

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
The pre black friday sale for old 4.95 blu rays ring up at 2.40 something which is still cheap in my opinion.
i ended up buying these three movies earlier today from the Dollar General store Say Anything Caddyshack Taken 1 the 2 disc Extended Cut |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Remember to grab a quantity that is divisible by 2 to maximize the savings.
|
yes I know that, Sherlock.
yes I bought 3, but the other two movies came up with the BOGO sale anyway which was fine by me. I didnt want to go overboard by buying a bunch of crap junk movies. I saw a few decent movies for blu ray that have the 4.95 price sticker and then there were still some horror movies for DVD leftover from Hallowene like Elm Street 5 and Children of the Corn. the spinner rack of blu ray movies, that doesnt have much to pick from since thats where I got Say Nothing and Caddyshack. Just bunch of pegwarming movies that take up space like Taken and Terminator 3 and whatever else. |

I appreciate your love of Dollar General stores and the deals they have. It seems as if you want to contribute information to others to help them. But please consider a little more courtesy in your replies. |

C'mon, we're all friends here. (In Blu-ray Bargains, anyway! In other forums, all bets are off.) |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Well,Cardsfan...
I would appreciate it if you would back the hell off while you and the other guy would stop it. I know theres a frikkin buy one get one more movie cheaper sale at Dollar General. Technically the two movies out of the three movies they have the damn sale. Including the third movie by itself anyway. |
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
Im not gonna go hog wild on buying up hoarding away bunch of junk movies from Dollar General just because they have the BOGO early Black Friday sale on movies for DVD and blu ray.
|
Re: Dollar General Blu-rays
They're 2.48 each and they're not going anywhere at the moment anyway.
You think anyone else besides me is gonna waste even 2.48 on pegwarmer cloggers like Terminator 3 for blu ray or bare bones stuff like Murder in the First or the Denzel Washington movie Under Siege? the horror movies for DVD and blu ray leftover from Halloween, they're a better selection than the blu ray movies in the spinner rack anyway but I dont need them right now at the moment anyway. |
