AMAZON PRIME will be $67 this Friday 9/25/2015
I'm not sure this is really the right forum, but it will probably get the most traffic here.
According to this article, Amazon will have a sale on Prime this Friday to celebrate the Emmy wins for Transparent.

To properly celebrate, the online retailer is discounting the cost of Prime for new members this Friday. From 12:00 AM ET to 11:59 PM PT, signing up for the annual subscription will set you back $67 instead of the usual $99. .

I imagine AMAZON will have fixed the loophole that people used last time. Chances are if you try to gift this to yourself, all you're going to get is $67 worth of credit towards a full-price membership.

The downside to letting your current membership run out if you are grandfathered into the old Sharing arrangement (4 people with shipping privileges), you will likely be re-signed under the New Household Plan rules which have some very different benefits and restrictions. If you are alone or only a spouse then it may not make much difference at all.

Yeah, I'm conflicted about this, mainly because of the change in Prime sharing. I'm currently bogarting a friend's Prime membership thru the old sharing plan. I would consider signing up at this rate to get access to streaming, but knowing that I can't go back to sharing is putting me off.

This is now live. They've closed the loophole for sending gift memberships at the reduced rate.

It's unfortunate they won't let current Prime members take advantage of this deal to extend their membership. Just having a one day sale for new members only? Is this just to get them more publicity for their original programming (Transparent, Bosch, etc.)?
