I was a bit pleasantly surprised: I emailed VCI asking about the possibility of a factory pressed edition of the new Karloff set. I got a long email back from VCI's VP explaining the situation & stating that they would seriously consider it. Very impressive whether it happens or not.

There are more dvd's than blu, but there are some blu's. I don't know which are burned & which are pressed. the 50% off is off the already discounted price. Only valid on "fulfilled by Amazon" titles. They apply the free ship on $25 BEFORE the 50%.

It appears they are terminating their relationship with Amazon, as titles are very low quantity.

The discount shows up in the FINAL page of your shopping cart, just before you select finalize order.

As the VCI 50% or 60% off sales on their website are off their list price and these are 50% off the regular discount price some of these are exceptional bargains. The 7 film DVD set Doctor At Large set is $10 after discount for example.
Topper blu ray is $9.25 after discount.

Thank you. Questionable encodes on many of the BDs but still good prices for otherwise hard to find HD titles. But man, how many "Forgotten NOIR' titles do they have ?

Lots (I have 9 volumes, all with 2-3 films). I don't know if these are burned or pressed. I bought pressed versions of all at a pre Amazon sale.

WARNING: Amazon charged me for all 3 items, & only shipped 1. All 3 pages have been completely removed from Amazon. When I ordered, the amount of remaining stock was posted on all 3. I would think Amazon would have an accurate database of current stock numbers; they must have super expensive real time inventory tracking, right...? This sort of thing seems to happen a lot for me with Amazon. I'm wondering if Prime members get pushed agead of folks ike me even if the ordered after I did?

I contacted Amazon & they said they will get more; & ship a couple weeks late; but I am concerned based on the original email that stated this was a final clearance sale & hinted that VCI/Sprocket was no longer going to use "Fulfilled by Amazon". That appeared to be the entire purpose of the sale.

I also wrote VCI/Sprocket. The new owner wrote me back. They're just as confused as I am. Said they'll have an answer for me tomorrow. I am rapidly getting into the "Amazon is so big that they need to be broken up" camp. Id guess that 75% off the Amazon orders I've placed in the last year were either significantly (1-3 weeks) late or got cancelled.

Amazon doesn't care anymore about non-Prime customers - they've become the Costco of internet retail. This is especially true outside the Christmas shopping season.

I stand in awe at Amazon's ruthless expansion into a frightening internet retail monopoly virtually overnight, but their unchecked power isn't great for everyone. It's a real pity there isn't a single competitor that wants to take them on.

I couldn't agree more. I think in terms of unchecked abuse of power we can add Facebook, Google & possibly Apple to that list.

Unfortunately, Amazon & at the medium level Super D has killed off almost all of the competition.

Received all 7 titles of my 2 orders today. Great sale.

Bluray.com reports video glitches on 'One Million BC' and 'Ruby' which were acknowledged by VCI in the bluray.com forums. This was back in October 2017. Does anyone think the discs received today might be glitchy ?

Turns out my entire issue would have been a non issue other than misinformation provided by poorly trained Amazon CS in India (or wherever they are). the 2 that I was told were oos arrived today & both are factory pressed. Very pleased other than with the reps in India.

As I mentioned in the first post, I believe VCI is severing relations with Amazon (YAY!) & I was under the impression that was the reason for the sale.

The sale is over. And the Amazon VCI store is empty. My original guess that VCI was severing relations with Amazon appears to have been correct. I also suspect they'll go back to selling on their own website. Hope they're not shutting down; they are showing new releases, so it's unlikely.

So far their website hasn't been updated (it still directs buyers to Amazon).

The direct VCI Home Entertainment website allows you to order directly from them again. If you set up an account you can sign in. You can add items to your cart. I didn't have anything to buy but I assume it lets you check out. Nothing listed in Coming Soon section yet. Topper and One Million Years BC blu rays are still listed as new releases though they have been out for about 6 months or more.

I figure the "Fulfilled by Amazon" experience wasn't working as well as they'd hoped. You could get stuff from them that way and it'd cost less than had you ordered directly from them as there was no shipping cost if you hit $25 or had Prime.

I purchased more from them via Amazon than when you could order directly simply because I could order that one title I wanted and didn't have to pad the order to justify the shipping costs. I'm sad to see them leave that model but will continue to order direct when they have the right deals - just like before.

VCI media is still available on Amazon ether from Amazon or 3rd parties. Some of the 3rd party orders are "Fulfilled by Amazon". What was discontinued was VCI, itself, selling on Amazon as a 3rd party.

Yes... I ordered directly from VCI during their sales as you got the sale price plus "free" shipping, something that was rarely available from them directly. That's now gone.

I know another small label around VCI's size that abandoned Amazon's fulfillment program. The owner repeatedly complained about dealing with Amazon, on top of the big hit to margins when sold through Amazon. But you lose that exposure to millions of Prime customers, which can make or break certain niche products.

Re my order, sadly despite Anna Mae Wong being second billed (& only getting seconds of screen time) "Chu Chin Chow" has got to be one of the 25 worst films I've ever seen. Great restoration, awful film. Hopefully they'll be something worthwhile on the 2 bonus discs.
