Bought $750 in gift cards on Wednesday. That ended up covering all but one of them.

They didn't have everything I wanted, so I might hit up another store for those tomorrow. Nothing crazy, maybe 3 or 4.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

Printed out 10 30% Off coupons and wound up using 8 (well, 7 tech since the cashier didn't collect one) at one B&N.

Picked up:

Demy set
Tati set
La Dolce Vita
L'Avventura
La Notte
L'Eclisse

(other 2 coupons used on books).

I'm weighing whether or not to make another purchase online and/or go back. There's a ton I want, but I need to draw a line somewhere, esp with the holidays approaching.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

I used 7 coupons today. I was shocked I could use them more than once as this store usually has the "you can only use a (generic) coupon once a day". Turns out I didn't have enough coupons and how to go print a bunch out and go back to the store a second time.

Picked up:

Demy set
MacBeth
It Happened one Night
Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down
La Dolce Vita
The Innocents
Insomnia

I had already bought The Innocents online but I'm going to return that one since with the coupon I end up saving like $3.00+ on it.

I think I'm done as I spent FAR too much on this sale (and others).

Just one order for me:

All That Jazz (slightly nervous about this one, musicals and I don't always get along, I do like the opening scene though)
The Long Day Closes
Seconds
La Dolce Vita

Printed out three 30% off coupons and the cashier had no qualms about ringing up each order . Picked up Hard Days Night, Vanishing, and Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Annoying at the end of the purchase, they are asking customers to purchase a full priced kids book to donate. How charitable of them to make full profit off of our donation. I still may print out extra 30% off coupons and participate if I go back there tomorrow, but it kind of felt a little phony on their part.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

I was shocked when I picked up the Les Blank:Always for Pleasure set to find out it was 124.99. I just assumed it would be around 49.99-59.99 since it isn't a huge set like some of the other recent ones (Tati, Demy). Luckily with the 50%, 10% members discount and 30 % off coupon I managed to snag it for 40 with tax.

My entire haul:

Les Blank: Always for Pleasure
Red River
A Hard Day's Night
La Jetee/Sans Soleil
It Happened One Night
The Life Aquatic
Rushmore
The Royal Tenenbaums
Diabolique
Eraserhead
Naked
Love Streams
Paths of Glory
The Naked Kiss
Shock Corridor
La Dolce Vita
Wild Strawberries
Autumn Sonata
Rashomon
The Hidden Fortress
Rififi
Loves of A Blonde

I picked up SL in the summer sale and it's one of the few I've already watched. Enjoyed it enough that The Freshman was one of the titles, on a fairly short list, I was looking forward to getting this time.
Curious to hear how you like it when you get around to spinning it.

Looks like I'm done with tonight's single purchase.
These are my pickups for this years sale

The Freshman
La Dolce Vita
My Darling Clementine
It Happened One Night
Jacques Tati Collection
L'Avventura
Pina
The Shooting/ Ride In The Whirlwind
Macbeth

I'm a little confused though. Adding up my purchases I seem to come up $32 short in GC value. It's gonna eat at me till I ferret it out.

And that's a wrap! Picked up L'avventura today for the 50%, plus 10% more off for membership, plus 30% off coupon! Whew - going back for Time Bandits on the 9th and that's it for the year. Great sale as always!!

That's the same reason I grabbed The Freshman in July after Safety Last! Nice haul, BTW!

Enjoy. I blind bought House during Amazon's horror sale back in October and watched it w/my girlfriend. We still can't exactly figure out whether it's so bad it's good (I'm leaning toward this) or so bad it's just bad (g/f leaning this way).

So you guys are just going up to the register with how ever many titles and same number of coupons to match and doing however many separate transactions??

In the past with these generic coupons, I've usually gone up to the register with just one title and the coupon. After getting rung up, I politely ask if I can use another copy of the same coupon in a separate transaction. If they say yes, then I go pick out another title. If not, I tell them it was worth a shot and say thanks and go on my way.

This last time, I printed out enough copies of the coupons and asked if they needed one for each transaction, and they said no, and just kept rescanning the same copy with each title.

I'm sure it's not like manufacturer's coupons where they need to collect them and send them in somewhere, since some cashiers even allow you to just show them the coupon on your phone.

I want to my local B&N to take advantage of the 30% coupon by purchasing My Darling Clementine. When I complained I couldn't find the videos I was informed they did away with that section three years ago.
What can I say? All my books are digital now.

I think I'm done with the sale as I've spent too much already, but we'll see if I go back for more before it ends... so far I've gotten

Tati set
America Lost and Found
Y Tu Mama Tambien
All That Jazz
Night of the Hunter
Charade
Rififi
The Shooting/Ride in the Whirlwind

Only used the 30% twice on Night of the Hunter and America Lost and Found. Tati I used a 20%, 10% membership (free two month, better remember to cancel!), and a $25 gift card I randomly got at work which brought my out of pocket down to $25 which is pretty darn good.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

Went back and picked up a final batch since they didn't have Cronos when I went on Friday.

Cronos
The Great Beauty
The Secret of the Grain
Riot in Cell Block 11
The Gold Rush
Kes

All for $80, and a $10 giftcard for use after XMas.

Question regarding Eraserhead: My B&N only had one left yesterday so I went ahead and grabbed it. It does say First Printing on the back, but on the outside of the shrinkwrap a new barcode was put on (71551512571000) - any idea if this means it's the corrected version?

Bought both of these in the summer sale. Still haven't cracked them open yet.
It's titles like these that , for me, seem a little like homework. But in the right mood/frame of mind there are many like these that I've sincerely enjoyed.

At least I hope that'll be the case...because throwing them up on Amazon afterward is no longer an option.

It also helped that I used a 30% off coupon on one and a 25% on the other to bring costs down even further.
