Criterion Sale at TCM.com

Got an e-mail this morning that said Criterions are up to 50% off at tcm.com.

The prices don't look too bad on some of them, but I don't have the time to search them all and I'm not as rabid a fan as many here to know if these are comparable enough to B&N sales.

Note: shipping's not free until you've gotten up to $59.

Nice. I see a few on there that I don't have and I'll most likely be over the 459 shipping threshold.

Wow! I think I'll end up under that and have to pay for shipping.

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

Hmmm, they gave me a 10% off welcome email that I can apply to my first order, but it cancels out my free shipping. A survey also popped up giving me a 20% off code good starting Monday.

I was going to place two orders, but since the free shipping doesn't work I'll wait until Monday and hope the 20% off works.

I noticed that but the sale and free shipping is just as comparable. With tax, each BD came to about $20. That's my spending limit on regular CC titles during sales.

TCM uses drop-shippers for fulfillment of many items.

My mental barrier on purchases is about $18, since I usually wait for B&N sales and get a membership discount and usually a coupon too. But given that it's Criterion Challenge time, and my dozens of unopened titles aren't enough apparently, I'll probably buy at least a few from this sale.

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

To give a Canadian perspective: I can't use the free-shipping code nor the 10% new member code. I expected that. But ordering Fantastic Mr. Fox on Blu-ray for $18.99 and being asked to pay over $23 for shipping!!?? Now that was a surprise.

Not being into sadomasochism I went elsewhere and will probably never go back

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

Yes, I too was dissuaded from partaking in this sale after realizing the outrageous shipping rates for international customers. Criterion has traditionally had a 50% off online flash sale (24 hours) in late September/early October, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that.

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

They're also offering a 25% sale on everything (I ASSUME they stack, but no guarantees):

"Our Apologies & 25% off from the TCM Shop"

Code SORRY25 Through 9/28

Edit: I checked, they do stack (Wish I wasn't broke).

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

Stack with what? I assume multiple titles because I still don't see an option to enter more than one code (not worth it for me unless the free shipping could be combined/stacked). --Peter

Thanks for posting! I was sitting this sale out, but with the 25% Off I got the following for only $159.31 (including s&h and tax):

ACE IN THE HOLE
ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS
THE FRESHMAN
THE GREAT BEAUTY
THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU
NASHVILLE
RIOT IN CELL BLOCK 11
IL SORPASSO
THIEF
THE UNINVITED ($11.xx after 25% Off)

Actually the SORRY30 code would work out better.

That's somewhat frustrating. Of course the status of the order I placed this morning is "ACTIVE," so it cannot be canceled (they told me to refuse the package). But, the CSR confirm my phone number and said she would be asking for a price adjustment on my behalf and will get back to me.

So, we'll see. Only a difference of $7.08 ultimately, so I'm not too bummed about it, but if they adjust the price, it'd be like I got free shipping.

Also...I checked SORRY35/40/50 just to be safe and nothing popped.

Stacks with the 50% off sale prices; you're getting 75% off list. Free ship still requires there minimum order size

They didn't send me the Sorry30 code, good to know about it.

Re: Criterion Sale at TCM.com

I had $80 worth of items in my cart and still didn't get the free shipping option when using the Sorry30 code. Once shipping and tax were added, it didn't end up being any cheaper than B&N with a 15% coupon and membership discount. If anyone knows how to trigger the free shipping, let me know. Again, I had more than $59 worth in my cart.

To get the free checking you have to enter the VIPSHIP code, which then cancels the SORRY30 code.

More like 62.5% (or 65%) off of list price. The 25% (or 30%) is applied to the 50% off price, not the total list price.
