Not for any of the three Disney titles hitting on 2/26. Crap.

Re: Target deals

I picked up more than I had anticipated during the Target sale, but I figured buy now and decided later. I'll probably end up returning a few, but usually they don't have most of their online selection as part of the sale. I picked up:

10 Cloverfield Lane $6.61
The Frighteners $6.26
Pacific Rim Uprising 3D $14
Riddick $8.91
Death at a Funeral $9.37
Final Destination Collection $9.90
Grinch 3D $21.45
The Exorcist and The Void $12.31
Trespass $12.89
Ex Machina 4K $6.61
Reign of the Supermen steelbook $13.21
Justice League vs the Fatal Five steelbook (preorder) $16.42

Re: Target deals

A couple of good deals there.

If I didn't already have them that is.

Re: Target deals

Don't know how long this will continue but I picked Strangers Things Season 1 and 2 for $5 each. Right now they are on sale for $10 but there's also a 50% off cartwheel for both bringing the price down to $5.

Re: Target deals

I had really gotten over buying movies just to buy them ... and ... I will probably never watch the discs even though I like the show ... but at $5 a pop these are worth it for shelf decorations!

I’m guessing this drastic price drop means Target probably will not sign on for a collectors set of S3 when it happens.

It didn't mean that for S2 when S1 dropped to this price even faster? Prices still in effect this week. I think the 50% off Cartwheel lasts until 3/30

Note -- the instore prices are not the same as online. You could do a Price Match, but many stores follow the CW letter of the rules and will not accept CW after Price match though
some might. You need to do a In-Store pickup and add the Cartwheel there is order to be assured of the price.

Many stores do not have the 4K set in stock even though the Inventory checker says the have them. I would assumed that if the website says Not eligible for In-store pickup/Buy in Store"
the odds are pretty high it's not there.

$5 for Bluray + DVD
$10 for the 4K +BD

Actually, the in-store prices are $10 for BD and $20 for 4K. They have those little sale sticker signs underneath the sets. That's how I got the season 2 BD for $5.

Maybe they changed it Sunday then -- all last week the prices were ringing up 24.99 and 29.99 with the shelf stickers to match. If they've adjusted the prices then that makes it a ton easier though finding the 4K is
still an issue.

I ordered the 2 seasons on blu-ray. 4K does have good reviews, however.

The S2 4K does, the S1 was pretty widely questioned since it left off the HDR processing and otherwise looked virtually identical to the BD

Re: Target deals

Do you know if the packaging is the same for both versions, and the 4K just adds another disc?

Re: Target deals

Grabbed the second season of Stranger Things on Blu-ray. I wasn’t planning on getting it but $5 and change made it a no brainer.

The one real reason to get the S1 4K is that it doesn't have the unskippable S2 trailer before the menu like the Blu-ray set. The forced S2 trailer spoils S1.

Don't have to watch the trailer -- I didn't. After the 1st time through you don't have to sit through it anymore.
Workaround if you really want -- insert Disc 2 first and at least let it go to the menu (you can also choose Play Episode 1 and then re-insert Disc 1) then when you insert Disc 1 -- hit resume

So the UHD has the BD confirmed? Because it's not listed as such and it only shows 3 discs in the picture.

Re: Target deals

I got mine in the mail yesterday and there is a sticker on the front showing the six discs, 3 UHD and 3 Blu Ray.

Oh, right, I see the sticker now on the picture on target.com. Weird that they don't list it as such.

Re: Target deals

One review for the blu-ray set on Target said the packaging was crap on the first season, but I didn't have any issues (probably drop-kicked by a postal employee). Foam circles to hold the discs inside, and the "VHS tape" is actually a hard cardboard mold, but that's ok. Seems to do just fine and haven't had any problems. The VHS slip case looks slick.

Second season is pretty cool as it goes to the VHS Protector type case. Haven't opened it yet but again, nothing rattling around inside or noticing any external issues.

As a former video clerk dude for many years, I don't notice any problems with the designs. Could be better quality, but the aesthetic impression is genuine and looks good.

Re: Target deals

It looks like Target.com may be eliminating many of the Blu-rays they carry. If you peruse the site, thousands of media items from it have disappeared literally overnight.

Re: Target deals

Damn. What the fuck is going on with media these days. Talk about a Dark Force controlling our watching habits. Physical ownership...scares them.
