There is a today only cartwheel coupon for 50% off of TV shows. It says DVDs, but it has been confirmed to work on Blu-Rays.

Ah shit. Now I have to go to Target.

Anyone know how accurate their site is in terms of which titles are carried in store? I was thinking about stopping to pick up some combination of the latest seasons of The 100, Girls, Masters of Sex, Shameless, Sleepy Hollow and Star Wars Rebels and they all show that the Blu-ray versions aren't carried in stores.

I went over at lunch time. Unfortunately, there are no Blu Ray TV sets that are cheap enough to even be a good deal at 50% off.

Was kinda tempted to pick up The Americans S2 DVD set for $7.50 (that one never got a BR release). Couldn't pull the trigger on a DVD though.

This is a fairly accurate site for inventory count.

The trick is to get a CSR to price match and still let you use the cartwheel coupon. I was able to get Hannibal 3 for $7 with a price match of $13.99 at Amazon.

Hmmmm.... I've been shot down using that technique before. Worth a try, I suppose. That and BBT S8 for $8 would sure be nice.

Do the price match first, buy something extra and then slap the cartwheel coupon last. This method has always worked for me.

You didn't miss anything. Prices are really high on TV sets there today.

I can't catch a break. I showed up at the CS desk with a cartload of groceries and BBT S8 Blu Ray. Told her I wanted to PM amazon on the Blu Ray. She told me it had to be a separate transaction -rolleyes- . Then she refused Cartwheel plus PM. Natch.
So I just ended up buying groceries I didn't really need.

Re: Target deals

I bought a few things, but not too much.

It's always Sunny S9 - $2.49 (Cashier didn't think Cartwheel worked, so manually took 50% off)
Ascension - $4.49 (Cashier didn't think Cartwheel worked, so manually took 50% off)

Last Man on Earth - $5.99 (PM Amazon)
Shawn of the Sheep S1 - 4.99 (needed manual override)
Shawn of the Sheep S2 - 4.24 (needed manual override, also had 15% additional cartwheel)

I usually don't buy DVD's anymore, but the sub-$5 prices motivated me....

Re: Target deals

Well, I went to a second Target tonight with a MUCH nicer manager. He didn't even check the price of the BBT S8 at Amazon, he said "I trust you". Should have given an even lower price. :grumble:

I also picked up Outlander S1V1 for $12.50. Could have gotten V2 as well, but thought it might make sense to blind-buy one set instead of two.

Heartbreak = Seeing Fargo S2 on DVD only. :mad2: Looks like I'll have to wait for a FoxConnect 50% off sale for that one.

The X-Files Sets were pulled at my location so I asked if they were in the storage room or already shipped back....the gal working in the department was so damn nice and checked for me. Sure enough, they still had them so she fetched what she had...Seasons 2-6 for $7.50 each. The receipt only allowed for 4 at the 50% off but they did a price adjustment for me anyway! Wow...great deal. Now I have to locate season 1 on the cheap.

Nothing now, it was only a one day sale.

Yesterday, Target had a 1-Day Only cartwheel coupon for 50% off all television series on DVD and Blu-ray. They had been selling for $14.99 each so that made them $7.50 a season if you could locate any copies. Many locations had already removed the X-files seasons during a recent reset. If you asked the right person they were able to pull the items from the back room. I did just that and was able to snag season 2-6 for $7.50. So, I need to snag season 1, 7, 8 and 9 plus the "event series" at a good price.

Yeah, I got the alert from Cartwheel about it, but I was too lazy to actually go.

Target Cartwheel allows you to do use the promotion 6 times a day, with 4 items per transaction. So you could have actually gotten 24 DVDs/BDs during this promo.

I was only able to get S1,3-6. I couldn't justify a 20 minute drive just for S2.

Same here. I was also expecting denials from Target reps. For those that scored...I salute you.

Yeah, they actually did a price adjust on one because I bought 5 seasons. I didn't have the time to drive another 30 min to another Target. I'll fill in the missing seasons along the way. I have so much to watch already and I am going to patiently wait for the next good deal on season 1 and 7-9. If I end up spending less than $80 for the entire series, I'll be happy.

Just a matter of time before the complete set goes down in price so that the cost per season is about what you paid. As someone who collected so many sets individually, I tell myself if you can wait, always wait for the complete collection. Almost always cheaper that way.

I'm not so sure about that. And if it happens, I may not catch the deal until its over like the Mill Creek closeout—I wanted "That 70s Show." I'm still waiting for "Mad Men" complete to drop and I waited far too long for "Batman 1966" special edition—may pick that up very soon.

So, with the X-Files at $7.50 a season you are talking $67.50 for the entire 9 seasons—55 friggin' discs! The complete series would have to be below that price, at around $1 a disc to make sense for those who snagged all 9 seasons at Target. Frankly, I don't see that happening. I picked up the complete "Boardwalk Empire" at Best Buy for $69.99—still the lowest I have ever seen that series on sale and it enjoyed half the number of seasons. If you look at the unboxing video on You Tube, the X Files packaging is just a very flimsy box with the same jewel cases inside as buying individually—nothing special by any stretch. In my opinion, it makes no sense to wait in order to have a cumbersome box and save a few bucks that would barely allow me to grab a hamburger and fries at McDonalds. I can catch the individual seasons I need to complete the set used or on sale. Far more likely to score the individual seasons for less than $10 each.
