I've been having good service lately from DVDPlanet. Shipping times from Super D stores have definitely gotten better for East Coasters since they opened a Kentucky hub.

I've never heard of this site, much less ordered from them. How reliable are they and do they ship fast? They've got the cheapest price of something I'm looking for but I don't want to get screwed over.

Ordered a title on the 17th and received it today. 9 days, but I generally give a place a full 10 business days from the date ordered before I get itchy to contact them. DVD Planet does very well and I don't have any complaints. Of course, if you're the type who wants things the next day, you'll pay for it. For me, I can wait. That's part of creating a respectable collection at a very low average price.

OTOH, the Fox mod titles I ordered from TCM Sunday got here today, and what was even more surprising, showed up in a solid box. I was fully expecting that lousy corrugated sticky paper which B&N and other still use.

DVDPlanet has been around for years and is pretty reliable for instock item -- things listed as 5-10 days sometimes means quite a bit longer. It's sort of the online remnants of KenCrane, Digital Eyes, etc and is a sibling store to Deep Discount and ImportCD (all owned by SquareD).
Their shipping is on the slower end since they seem to use DHL mostly. It has been some faster since they added a second mailing site out of Kentucky to ship to the Eastern US instead of everything having to come out of Irvine/Compton

In this economy I'll take 10-12 ship time to save a buck all day long!
DVD Planet has been great to me in 4 seperate orders and one being a $200 monster

well color me flabbergasted.
The order I placed at DD with the 15% coupon showed up today...four days after I placed the order! And it was even later in the day when I placed it.
The return address on the label still shows Irvine, Ca- but even first class across country should have taken longer. This must be from Kentucky after all.
Makes me kind of wish I'd order some of the Criterions now to get them out of the way.
