DeepDiscountDVD BOGO through 2/20

DVD-Obsession posted it on the DVD Bargains forum. Code MOREBLU

http://www.deepdiscount.com/Presiden...k_id=842781177

In for $98.97 for The Universe Megaset and the Tarantino eight film collection. Over 19.5 hours of extras and I haven't seen 6 of the 8 movies! (and I could always rewatch Kill Bill 1 and 2, love those movies).

Also in for World at War and Visions of Europe for $81.78. And I'm done with this sale

Caveat emptor. Deep Discount won't hesitate to submit bullshit charges on your credit card and refuse to do anything about it (until you sick AMEX on them and they crumble into pieces like the spineless garbage they are).

Would like to get that Universe Megaset, but when I added 2 to my cart, I got a 5.96 surcharge. that is to be expected. But when I entered the code the surcharge went to 11.96. That might change if I checkout, but I will probably pass again because of their stupid surcharges.

This sale is too much work. Unless someone else posts something interesting, I will probably pass.

By bogus charges do you mean popups or screens with pre-checked fields that people forget to uncheck and then get charged for those memberships once the trial period expire? While I agree it's disingenious I've never been charged that way because I make sure to check every screen.

I don't have an issue being charged for oversized packages because they cost more to ship and they tell you right off the bat, I looked at the total cost and decided whether it was a good deal with the final price.

What are you all talking about? I have never heard of Deep Discount either having a membership fee or charging more than there was at checkout. They do have an additional shipping charge for some items, and sometimes their order fulfillment is very slow. Are you sure that you're not thinking of someplace else?

I rarely buy from DD anymore, but was tempted by two of the Poirot Blu Rays (Series 6, 7&8) for $36. Despite the falloff in deal availability, I've never had a single issue with any of my DD orders; and I used to order a ton. A backorder now and then is all.

the surcharge I mentioned is the extra postage for heavy items. The extra postage is just irritating because when I'm scouring for deals, I don't take it into account, and then it just makes the deal a little less appealing. yes, I look at the final price and, even though it's not a bad price, will still probably pass.

Last time I ordered a couple of sets in a B1G1 the extra postage doubled (like above), then seemed to work itself out on the final confirmation screen. The extra postage is just irritating because media mail items do not cost that much to ship. It's just another way to get money and it turns me off. Psychologically I'd rather they just raise the prices a bit. I know it's the same, but it still pisses me off the way the do it -- and right now that's enough fo me to pass.

They are relying on people getting sucked in by the low prices, going through the process of checking out, then finally seeing the extra charges, and saying "Ah well. I came this far, shippings not too bad", and just clicking that final button. Or not even looking at how much shipping actually costs.

FYI, I price checked the items that I wanted to purchase, and I will save $2 on DVDplanet. Also, you are not hampered by the B1G1 format so I may add something else.

Plus DVDPlanet is much less likely to engage in credit card fraud.

Aren't they both owned by the same company? I always thought they were.

That's as may be. I've ordered from DVD Planet before without issue (granted this was YEARS ago, probably the Ken Crane's era). I certainly cannot say the same for Deep Discount, who should only be disemboweled by wolves.

I've ordered from both in the last 6 months and had no problems, but yeah you are talking about different ownership now.

Yeah, but the Uniiverse mega set is $2 MORE at DVD Planet and they still want an extra 3 bucks. Granted, I think that's around the cheapest it's ever been, but right now (esp. after CH and FoxConnect sales), it's just not enough incentive.

Have had good & bad experiences with both.

DD has sent several unsealed sets; Planet has ripped off my FBC points before.

Latest Planet sale (the one that ended Jan. 24), they charged full price for the sale items & I had to call.
