There's also their recent deal with USPS to do Sunday deliveries. Physical sales will live on.

It looks like they're adding deals by time slot. They just added 10:20pm PT deals for 11/28.
Pacific Rim 3 Ice Age movies Pitch Perfect We may not get a full Black Friday-Cyber Monday calendar. :( |
Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar
If you look at the Gold Box section, Island of Lost Souls CC is listed with the 11/28 6:20am PT deals (Medium, Jersey Shore, etc..). It's not listed in the Movies section calendar.

They do? Perhaps tomorrow. They have a LOT, but it all depends on the prices. So far, I bought one item. Last year around this time, I probably had bought 15 titles by now.
I just know that now, I am trying to figure out how I'm going to participate in at least three of the LDs tomorrow, while having to be on the road traveling between family functions. But, that's a good problem I guess. |

Same here (in terms of claiming LDs by now). I haven't done any this year.

I thought it through already. I have a good smartphone (hopefully you do as well), so we should be able to order everything on there without issue. Just make sure you are logged in, and have the page up in advance. And set the alarm on your phone so you don't forget about it.
I'll work it out one way or another. Oblivion, Pacific Rim and Zero Dark Thirty LDs keep me out of the retail stores the following day. |

I suspect that Amazon is looking toward a future where they no longer sell physical products. Books, music, and tv/movies will all be digital and streamed to Kindles or other compatible devices. Physical goods like blenders, tools, furniture, and electronics will be sold through the marketplace by third party sellers.
Then Amazon won't need to own warehouses or pay out shipping charges. The physical goods they'll need to warehouse and ship themselves will be Kindles. I don't believe it's a great long-term strategy. Retail stores get a lot of impulse purchases that no one makes over the Internet. |

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar
Hmm, as it stands I'm more interested in their Thanksgiving deals (provided they're price matching Pacific Rim to Target's BF price) than their Black Friday ones.
Of course this is just their lightning deals. I'm sure Amazon will price match a bunch of things when they go live. |

How does the checkout work for these deals? Do we have a very limited time to keep the deal? I'm thinking if I need to get other potential orders lined up to meet the $35 limit. Or sign up for the Prime trial. |

I'll be the first one to tell you that getting stuff for $105 versus $100 isn't that big of a deal. But, I also would be foolish to pretend to be happy that Amazon is not doing their best quality control/aggressive pricing on items when they have done so in the past. Amazon was KILLING the retailers during BF week, if not the other 358 days out of the year. And now, they are just doing the ol "ho-hum" thing, at least as it appears. I, as well as many others, do not expect Amazon to lead the best prices charge on every single item. But, I think its safe to say we do expect them to be in the playing field. And putting up the same merchandise over and over again and offering tier 3 items during holiday LD or weekly promotions isn't going to cut it. For the first time in at least 3 years, I'm going to BB today to scout for BF and possibly see what is on sale. I never went near any of the retail stores during BF week before now. So, why the change? You can fill in the blank(s) on that. And if I'm doing it, it means a bunch of others are doing it too. |
