So the Fringe blu ray is $2 less than when it was the Deal of the day on November 7th.

Is that correct?

I'm sure I copied the price of that set down correctly before. Now it says $72.59, so maybe they dropped it down a bit more.

Looking at last years sale -- "In Stores & Online
From now until December 24, you can save 40% off thousands of in-stock Blu-rays"

It may well not include DVDs. I buy so few DVDs anymore I don;t always register that part or the clerk I was talking to may have said All Movies and I misinterpreted. I'll edit my other post and leave it at 40% Bluray Sale.

Also last pre-Christmas week there were a number of 25/30% coupons available to sweeten the deals.

Sounds good. Thanks for the heads-up!

I bought the first four seasons of Fringe for ~$20 each IIRC from WBshop and have been looking for a deal on S5 and now I could buy the whole shebang for $72.59. Unfortunately, I don't want to gamble on not being able to recoup on the existing sets. Bother.

^ I picked up S5 at B&N yesterday. It is part of their BF sale in-store for 50% off, plus used the 30% off coupon and member discount. Came to $15.75.

Not B&N member and it's a day late. Oh well. It may get cheap sometime.

Their BF prices go til tomorrow. Even without member discount would be $17.50 with 30% coupon, or $15 with 40%. Not a super bargain by any means, but still the cheapest price I've seen.

Re: Amazon Countdown to BF Week - Lightning Deals Calendar

The problem is that S5 was only 13 episodes, so paying the same as I did for full run seasons bugs me. No biggie. Thanks for the tips.

Heh, a bunch of people had second thoughts on Chuck. It sold out in a minute or two and then dropped to something like 63% claimed after their buy window expired.

[edit]It looks like they're replacing the Black Friday calendar with a Cyber Monday Deals Week calendar.

I haven't seen the Fringe DVDs, but the blu-rays look great.

The blu-rays have a few more special features than the DVDs, though some of them are only available through BD-Live, which sucks.

Amazon UK has the Universal Monsters set for 16.99 pounds on a lightning deal for one more hour:

I thought I owned Ripper Street but then realized it was Copper. I'm tempted but am backlogged on TV. On the other hand, I've always been intrigued by Call the Midwife for whatever the heck reason so will consider that. Hmm, that's strange: their calendar doesn't have season 1 on BD. :(

And I went to bed at 12:30 having forgotten about the Fringe Deal, with me missing season 5 and having season 3 on DVD.

Hobbit Extended 3D was a lightning deal on Amazon UK right now for 10.49 pounds, but it quickly sold out as I was typing this. Surprised no US deals anywhere. The best I've seen:
B&N has it for $25.54 after 40% off coupon (online at m.barnesnoble.com using BFRIDAY40).

I have it in my cart right now but can't decide if I want to pull the trigger or not($23.08 shipped). Doesn't seem like much was added other than some bonus features.

Highly recommended, though I didn't pay them much more than that a month or so ago. Dracula especially is a stunning restoration including the original audio has FINALLY been cleaned up.

Did you get it? I passed on the lightning deal and bought it from B&N even though it cost slightly more. I had a gift card, plus will be able to watch it before Part 2 comes out. From the UK, it likely would not arrive in time...

The thing I hate about UK lightning deals is you do not get VAT deducted. It makes no sense to me, but that's how they do it. Because you immediately lose that 20% savings, it isn't as much of a deal...

It's a complete list now; initially they weren't showing up on the deals calender, & the 8:20pm PST times did not show up on the LD page.

Not for Amazon...all their best deals actually come before or on Black Friday. However, this was a pretty sad year for those looking to add to their library - just a lot of the same stuff we've seen year in/year out on sale and only a few 'newbie' bargains to be had.

Just bought The Good Wife season 3 for $14.79 on the Lightning deal. However, it's listed as out of stock.

Have been waiting eons for it to drop below $20. One of my favorite shows on TV right now.

Now I need season 4 to drop in price.

I discovered how great this show is about three weeks ago when looking for something new to watch on Hulu+, and then promptly powered through 40 episodes. I'm currently halfway through season three. Great show, and a good price on those sets.

Great show, and it has rewatch value for me. The annoying thing is that I know I own the first season and maybe one of the others, and you're right that this hasn't gone on sale a lot. Some seasons are on Prime, though.
