Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

Does anyone know expected prices of the different versions of Iron Man 3 (release date 9-24)?

Amazon is still sitting at $24.99...

DJariya 09-20-13 03:53 PM

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

no real exclusives right?

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

Ugh, somewhat of an expensive release after the last 2 major ones in Star Trek and WWZ came in at $20. Poop.

Fuck you Disney. Oh well, I didn't really like the movie that much anyways. I'll wait for a price drop.

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

Yeah, I don't think there any store exclusives for this one, at least from the major retailers (BB, Target, Walmart).

One question, though... are all three blu-rays basically the same? One doesn't come with SE content that the others don't, does it?

It's just:

1) (blue border) Blu-ray, DVD
2) (gold border) Blu-ray, DVD, digital copy
3) (red cover) Blu-ray 3D, blu-ray, DVD, digital copy

With all of the regular blu-rays being the same.

What shitty prices. I'll wait for a drop.

Ditto. Gotta be a better price on Black Friday, right?

Yep, I'm waiting for a major price drop.

I canceled my order. It was up to $27 and change just for the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy on Amazon. I'll focus my efforts on Halloween and Prince of Darkness. IM3 will be priced lower in no time.

I plan on picking up the 3D version through the Disney Movie Club. I just signed up again earlier in the week and plan on using it as one of my commitments.

I asked for Iron Man 3 from my sister for my birthday coming up. She has no problem paying the $24.99

But yeah Disney is definitely sticking it up Marvel fans asses with the pricing for this release.

It is not just this release. The Little Mermaid is gonna be pricey also. And while there is a $7 coupon for TLM, I still believe it is pricier than previous Disney releases.

Target
Target excl. 32 pg digibook (BD/DVD) $24.99
Non-Digibook Edition (BD/DVD) $22.99
BD/DVD/DC Edition $27.99

Best Buy
BD/DVD $24.99
BD/DVD/DC $29.99
3DBD/BD/DVD/DC) $34.99

Guess I lucked out with the Amazon pre-order for Little Mermaid 3D. Looks like I'll be paying $29.96 with the $5 coupon.

I'm sitting this out until the inevitable holiday price drop.

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

Saw this posted on another Blu-ray site...

Apparently there is an advertisement in this Sunday's paper for IM3 and Wal-Mart's prices.

BD/DVD $19.96
BD/DVD/DC $19.96
3DBD/BD/DVD/DC) $24.96

Also, on the DMR site you can "purchase" a $3 coupon towards a Disney movie. While personally I do not like the idea of having to use points to buy a coupon as I fear this may become a trend, it is an option for those looking to save a little money.

Terms of coupon...

Coupons are valid for 10 days from print date and no later than 12/31/13. Good in U.S., its territories and Canada only (excluding Quebec). Offer is non-transferable and void where prohibited. See coupon for complete details.

Has Disney always done a BD/DVD BD/DVD/DC release? They're charging an extra $3 for something most studios throw in already?

Yeah, they have... its pretty ridiculous (and confusing). But I thought they were ending it now that the DC's are not on discs anymore. Hmm..

Disney is always pushing for higher prices through a variety of retail configurations. In the future, they will want direct access to your savings account in order to purchase one of their vault titles.:D

I can live with Walmart's price on it. I know it'll probably get cheaper on Black Friday but meh it's worth at least $20. Plus I've wanted to re-watch it as I think the first time I saw it I might have been too harsh on it.

Down to $22.99 on Amazon. Still too high.

Being a very recent release, how much cheaper do you think IM3 will be on BF? I'd say $19.99 for the 3D and $14.99 for the 2D is likely. Perhaps it could be $5 cheaper than that if they are limited supply doorbusters with the operative word being limited supply and most people probably wouldn't get them.

The good part about buying from Walmart is you have 90 days if you don't open it which takes us through BF, so I plan to get the 3D for $24.96 and use the $3 DMR coupon (if they don't run OOS before I get around to it). If there's a good BF deal, then I'll return my unopened one I buy this week. $22-ish for a new release 3D Disney BD is about as good as it gets given Disney's purposefully high (and one might say greedy) pricing.

For me $25 is the limit on a new release 3D BD, and as I've said before if a 3D version exists I won't buy the 2D BD for any price (unless it's practically free). 3D is cool. It adds an extra dimension to my viewing and that's worth $5-$10 over the 2D (I prefer $5 of course).

Have $10 in RZ points so plan to pricematch Walmart at Best Buy for the 3D version.

Eh you never know. Sometimes stores pull surprises on Black Friday but the only downside to that is a lot of the really good deals on newer/bigger titles like this are doorbusters which to me isn't worth the hassle. For $20 at Walmart though I'll probably just pick up the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy edition.

If anyone needs the Walmart ad for matching, it was on the back page of today's Parade magazine.

Thanks.. As many times my local stores don't even have items marked at the sale / advertised price! Now I can go to BB price match & rewards coupon for the 3D version.

Best Buy is much better for new releases. You should check them out.

Looks like TRU might be the cheapest option. If you preorder Monsters University for $1, you get $10 off any other Disney movie. Their ad shows $22.99 for the Blu + DVD version, so $13.99 after you figure in the $1 deposit.

I know they are technically the same company, but do you think the DMR coupon will work for IM3 and other Marvel blus?

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

One thing I have notice with Disney is that they hardly ever put their blu rays on sale or any store for less than 19.99 so being 3D with all the price match and sadly using the coupon from Disney is the best opinion I think.

If the store has doubts about the $3 DMR coupon you can just print out or show them the Eligible Titles page on DMR's website. IM3 is featured on there:

Bought IM3 3D at Wal-mart at 7:30am this morning. They only had about 10 copies.

The register rang it up at $36.96 instead of $24.96. I had to go to Customer Service for a pricematch. Decided not to even try the coupon.

I also hit Target at 8am when it opened, and they had no copies of IM3 3D. (I know it was not in their ad, just wishful thinking for a PM).

Re: Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray prices?

I only found one copy of IM3 3D at Wal-Mart at 11:00 this morning. Went to regular checkout. The clerk examined the disc package, for what I don't know. I gave her the coupon which she examined again without a word. It scanned and that was that.

BTW, I went to Target for something else. Didn't notice any 3D sets on the shelves.

PM'd 3D version at BB this am. Used the $3 coupon from DMR. Used a $20 RZ certificate. $2.53 after certificate.

I haven't tried it, but some people at slickdeals are now saying that the $10 isn't coming off, and they're being told that it will come off when they pick up Monsters U (which doesn't have a price yet, and you can't pre-order the 3D version).
