While I like all of the ST movies (I can tolerate 5, but I actually like the rest including 1... especially for the music), I'm not sure if the transfers on some of these are good enough to pay $35. Also, did they include all of the extras from the previous 2-disc Special Edition sets to this BD set?

Nope, not all of the extras, and not the extended editions, I don't think. I believe that the ST:TMP special effects done for the DVD release would have to be redone in HD? I forget the details.

Still, at less than $6 a pop, it's an easy purchase for this Trekkie, with all of those caveats.

I said fuck it and bought it. Hard to resist for less than 6 bucks apiece. I will do a comparison with my dvds once they come in regarding extras and such. Still wish it had Generations included with it.

Every few months this goes on sale and I stew over it. I bought the new Tomb Raider game last week so that's probably my impulse purchase for now.

The Next Generations movie set is close to the same price today, as well. I got both, even though I have them on DVD.

Anyone who missed this deal might want to check their local Wal-Mart. I saw this set for $35 (regular shelf tag price) this morning. They also had the Next Generation movie set for $25. I'm almost positive they were the blu-ray versions.

Meant to drop this yesterday when the price was active.. but still pertinent to justify those that did or did not take part in this sale...

And I bit at this point realizing I have to keep my old DVDs as well..

Re. the Star Trek movie sets, did you see a tag at Walmart saying the BD sets were that price or a sticker on the BD sets? If not, then somebody probably put the BD sets in the spot for the DVD shelf tags. I can't count how many times I've seen shelf tags below BDs with a price that got me excited until I looked at the shelf tag to see it said "DVD" at the end.

You could be right. The shelf tag said $35, but I didn't read the fine print to see if it specified BD. No price stickers on the sets themselves, but they were placed right next to the DVD boxsets.

I checked my Walmart yesterday and yes the DVD set was $34.96 and the Blu set was $54.96. The TNG DVD set was $24.96 and I don't recall the blu price but it was higher.

Okay, then they probably put them the wrong spot at my store. Thinking back, I'm now positive it was the BDs version I saw on the shelf -- as I noticed there were thin blu-ray cases inside the slipcase. Anyway, thanks for confirming.
