Is it true that Best Buy is simply sending all of these DVDs off to be destroyed and recycled? |

Do not use any of the forms on any of the Best Buy sites or anything like that. It wont get you to the right people, if anyone at all. Not in cases like this. Lisa is the Vice President of Best Buy Customer Care, and she will either respond to you personally via email reply or phone call, or she will have someone directly under her on the Best Buy Executive Resolutions team reply to you on her behalf. When you email, make sure to include the store (if you are talking about a retail store) you had a problem in, as well as your name, address, and phone number. |

It says they want to stop using email, but I doubt that's something they'd completely end anytime soon.
Well nevermind, it is already gone from their CS site. Weird, but I never really emailed them for anything. It's been usually calling them. I think I've needed to once in the past couple of years, over the Christmas holiday. |
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
What's the sku on the Kubrick set? My store didn't have it the other day but said they had 2 on order which could show up on any given day, so I figure I'll call ahead and ask.

I think I read some folks over at the Blu-Ray.com forums finding it in special displays. Going to check another Best Buy near my school (not local) to see if they have it.
I was told again today that they have nothing to do with the movies. That part of the store is contracted out to another company. I remarked that that company was doing a shitty job and the BB worker agreed. I said they should kick his ass and at least get him to stock advertised movies and fill the "Oscar Winners" display. I was then informed he was only contracted to work x number of hours per week and he did what he could in that time. After that, oh well... he wasn't going to work for free. Whoa!! Needless to say, I was absolutely stunned. I guess I now know why the Best Buy movie section is always a shambles and stock levels are worse than Target. Absolutely the only thing that keeps me going back is Upgrade and Save. |

Found North by Northwest today. One of the guys who works there found it in the back. I have to give the local store guys credit, they have never refused when I have asked for assistance finding a specific film.

I picked that up for $5 today along with: Casablanca Beetlejuice/Charlie/Corpse Bride Also got Taken 2 for $15. I've been waiting for a remaster of The Shining so I never picked it up. For this price I will find some artwork to slap into single cases, then give away my extras of 2001 & Clockwork Orange. |
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
Went to a different store today, and they were wiped out. I did find a few of the triple features in the regular aisles. The special display was pretty bare (except for Lost Boys). I got the Superman triple feature, 16 Blocks triple feature, and Mean Girls. I'm saving the other 2 for a better store...

Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
Pretty good haul today:
I Saw the Devil L.A. Confidential Blazing Saddles/Caddyshack/National Lampoons European Vacation Ben Hur Scrooged All rang up at $9.99 (before coupon) and total was $25 + tax. Still couldn't find North by Northwest or Network. Couldn't find Planes, Trains and Automobiles either. Aside from those titles, there's nothing I really want. I do have a couple of coupons remaining so I can afford to be patient. Also, when do the steelbooks sale end? |
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
Picked up two more of the triple sets today(Denzel Washington and Tim Burton sets).
Hit up a couple of Dollar Tree stores today hoping to find some dvds to trade in but there were none to be found. Hopefully I can find at least a couple more before Sat. as I would like to finish picking up the rest of the triples I don't have yet. I noticed a tag below the Blazing Saddles/Caddyshack/NL European Vacation set saying the sale price on it ends on 01/19. Did not see any tags under any of the other sets, but I would assume the sale on them ends at the same time. |

I found it at the Milwaukee Mayfair location which always has a bit better media selection. They have the new layout now and it was in the Action/SciFi section but alphabetized in the T's for Two-Thousand-One if that helps you find it. They did not have a separate display for the 3 packs. Still need the Willis and Oceans sets along with Barabarella (with that awesome slipcover) before I'm done. |

Yeah same plan here!!! Sale on the 3 packs ends Saturday. This is really an insane deal on a bunch good to great catalog titles. $2 a movie + tax if you can get $1 DVD's.

While I was looking around yesterday I also noticed they had the movie "300" located in the "T" section of action also. Luckily I have been able to find just about everything I have been looking for so far at my local store. I doubt that there are many, if any, other ppl in my area doing the U&S promo around here. I saw one copy of Barabarella at the front yesterday. I started to get it, but it would have been a blind buy and I have to many other "wants" on my list right now. |
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
This is one of my favorite sales! I picked up a few so far and have 1 coupon left and a handful of trade fodder left in case anything else I want pops up. The $5 triple features are such a stupid good deal! Ended up with the Superman 1/2/Returns triple, the 16 Blocks/Last Man Standing/Last Boy Scout triple, the Departed/Goodfellas/Aviator triple, the Twister/Perfect Storm/Posidon triple, the American History X/History of Violence/True Romance triple, I Saw the Devil, and The Great Mouse Detective so far.
Still pondering grabbing the Kubrick set. I already have Shining on Blu and 2001 on HDDVD though. Never saw Clockwork Orange, so not sure what I'm missing there. So far I've never had to buy DVDs to trade in...they have always been old promos or double dips I had laying around. I usually give double dips away if it's s title I know one of my friends or family would want, but I still end up collecting a stack that I know no one else would want (or they already have). Then when U&S rolls around, I almost always end up double dipping on a couple more for next time. Goodfellas and Twister are already in the stack after yesterdays purchase now! :) I do want to give a kudos to my local (Kohler, WI) store. I read all of these horror stories about bad service, empty shelves, etc. I am so thankful that I never have to deal with any of that here. Granted, we aren't in the middle of a big city or anything, but I gotta say I have a good experience every time I set foot in that store. I've never had a single customer service problem. The movie section is a healthy size and always well stocked (though I'm not a huge fan of how it was rearranged). The employees are always friendly and they have some VERY cute girls that are usually at customer service (which is where you usually check out at this store). I love my little Best Buy and I hope it never changes to be like the ones that some of you are stuck with! |
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
I'm loving the phone upgrade coupons as well. Last time the girl gave me 4 coupons, 1 for every member on our family plan :)
|
Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2
^ They're giving the phone coupons again? All right, I'm in! I never did one of those before, but since I'm running out of crap to trade in, and don't feel like going to Dollar Tree, I'll do it!
