Monterey Pop: Criterion Collection - $0.99 @ Best Buy B&M
This was first posted in a thread over on the DVD bargains board. I saw it this morning and decided to check my local store as well. I came over at lunch and had them scan it, and sure enough it worked. It was NOT in a clearance section or bin. It was right on the shelf where it normally would be, with the normal sticker price of $49.99.
Just a heads up!
I should also mention that if you want to check the price yourself without having them scan it, you can do so in store. You know those computers customers can use to look stuff up?
Go up to that and just do a search for it - it should show the $0.99 price on there.
For example, Dolly Parton's Backwoods Barbie CD is also $0.99. In store, on those computers, it comes up there at the discount price. However, if you look it up on the normal BestBuy.com, it shows up at $4.99 like this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Backwood...rbie&lp=1&cp=1
If you want to risk an employee picking it up, when you call and ask them to confirm the price, it should show up at $0.99 for them, as long as they actually look it up instead of being lazy and just going by the sticker price.
Here are a couple of pictures - the first one is of the BD with my receipt and the second one is a shot of the in store computer where customers can look stuff up. It shows in their system at $0.99, but also note that the complete collection is not discounted. The price on BestBuy.com is not discounted, so you can not go by that. If your local store says unavailable, go in to make sure they don't have it anyway. I believe their system says when they get down to one or two in stock.

Any St. Louisans hit up the Brentwood Best Buy for this yet? I'm crossing my fingers I can find this deal there tonight...

You can apparently get on the computer in store and order them there. Who knows if they would actually ship, but still. Here is a picture from a nut from the Blu-ray.com forum...

Tried to find that today, but no luck. I can't believe they're selling it at that price! I did at least find a great compilation CD called These Ghoulish Things for 99 cents. You won't find it new for less than ten bucks.

Not a new policy. You could always use an in-store kiosk to place an order with the in-store price and have it shipped to your home(just make sure that you sign out of your account before leaving the kiosk).

Snuck over to my BB at 8:50. Had none in stock, but was able to order it at .99 through their computers. Even told a BB employee and he snared one after exclaiming,"Holy S*&^!" when he saw the price. :-)

I ended up finding a copy by my house, but the BB barcode came up as a $499.99 Blackberry for some reason. After the clerk did a double-take and voided that, he did another double-take when it rang up at $.99. Had I known that the second release was in there, I would've dug a bit more. Maybe I'll try my luck at the one by work tomorrow.

Confirmed dead for ordering in store. If you can find a copy in store price is still. 99. But could not place an order via in store computer even with an employee.

yeah i was there when the place opened this morning and couldn't find any copies or order via the kiosk.
picked up the 3 stooges collection for $40 so the trip wouldn't be a waste.

I'm very glad to see some of you guys being able to get in on this!
I went back to the store today and have a little bit more to report. I tried searching for the other release (which I wasn't aware of yesterday) Jimi Plays and the in store kiosk acted very weird. First it showed up at the normal BestBuy.com price of $25, and the other Monterey also showed up at the higher price. I considered it dead, and started to leave as I browesed the asiles.
Before I left, I decided to check the system one more time. This time, sure enough, both of them popped up at the $0.99 price, so who knows what the deal was there. While you can no longer order Monterey on the kiosk to be shipped to you, you can only search for in store pickup, I was indeed able to order Jimi Plays for $0.99. I got that, shipped, for just $1.05. Insane.
I went back to see if the prices would change again, and no, they remained $0.99 no matter what I did, so that's good. I decided to try to order more to possibly help people out, and noticed you could only change the quantity to 3. That was fine, I went in and placed four orders of a quantity of 3 each time, so we'll see.
Hopefully they'll at least ship the one order for one that I placed first.
If anyone knows any other BD titles for $0.99 or even $4.99, please let me know. I'd buy just about any of them at those prices.
