What should I do here... I saw Frankenweenie 3D this week with a free DMR movie ticket, and I didn't care for it much. I was the only one in the theater too. It wasn't a bad movie... just not good or memorable. I enjoyed TNBC and Corpse Bride a lot more. It's just yet another unoriginal Frankenstein rehash but this time with creepy looking puppets. Something inside of me just can't pay more than $15 for this 3D BD, and even if Amazon drops the price to $24.99, it would be $16.99. It's a virtual guarantee to drop to $29.99 before coupon and maybe even $26.99, but anything lower is unlikely. So I'd probably be wasting my time preordering this. Now if it were a good movie like Hotel Transylvania, I could justify dropping $20 for the 3D BD.

I'd rather just wait a couple years for a $15 or less deal. Of all the many movies I have, watching Frankenweenie any time soon is near the bottom of the list. I still dream of catching a 3 for $21 Gohastings deal that includes used 3D titles like I missed last time. Oh how I hate that 3D BD new releases are usually so expensive (The Avengers being an exception).

I really loved the film- even just technically speaking it was completely beautiful to watch.

I'm definitely in for the pre-order, especially considering an inevitable price drop. And Amazon doesn't have a non 3D version listed. I hope that's just temporary and not just another way to push the sale of 3D Bluray.

The coupon is looooong gone. Amazon coupons are always available for a limited time, several months before the title is released. Not sure why they do it that way, but that's how they do it. Most of the time, they don't even have a release date yet.

Mine showed 29.99 then subtracted the 8.00. When did it drop to 27.99? They better not have screwed me because I have Prime.

Sorry... I have to ask a dumb question. What is a "quick picks" discount at Amazon? I've never once seen or been offered one of those. Is it like the Gold Box with its whopping 5% off or is it a bigger discount? I assume you have to be offered this "quick pick" before you buy which meant many weeks ago before the $8 Frankenweenie coupon expired?

Quick Picks is the the section of your Gold Box that gives you an additional 5% discount on items selected specifically for you.

Yes, you're correct, this was a long time ago. Frankenweenie showed up in my Quick Picks list while the $8 coupon was active. And since the Quick Picks discount is applied to the pre-coupon price, I got this for $18.59 after 5% discount and $8 coupon.

Thanks for the info. Then I guess Gold Box == quick picks. Maybe I haven't paid any attention to the name. I assume it's the same section at the bottom of your current deals where it lists a handful of Gold Box items with an additional 5%? Unfortunately my discounted items are 99% stuff I'd never want or that's massively overpriced. I almost never get a discount on something I want, and though I heard there was some way to make it give you certain discounts by playing games adding stuff to your wishlist, I never had time to do that.

Nope. If you don't buy anything from Amazon for a really really long time, there are days where the quick picks may be empty. Not very often though... One day recently I went searching for old Amazon accounts I had opened years ago, just to see what was in the gold box. All but one of them had quick picks...

One odd thing I noticed about Quick Picks: I'm from Canada, and therefore the stuff I'm allowed to order is mostly limited to films/music. However, I frequently get random items showing up, despite me not even being able to place an order if I wanted. I guess they must be "promoted" by the manufacturer or something.
