Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Just stopped by my Dollar Tree and after about half a year of a near empty DVD shelf they had a full restock including a few Blu Rays. I picked up:

The Hunters
Sweetwater
Diary of a Wimpy Kid-Rodrick Rules
The Dragon Pearl

Only Diary was from a major studio but the other 3 looked interesting enough for $1.

I think all 3 are Walmart exclusive combos with VUDU codes. I wish mine would get some.

Wow, you are right. None of them say anything about a code but sure enough I opened them up and there were Vudu codes there.

Maybe check your dollar tree again? Last week mine had nothing. This week it was overflowing with movies.

Unfortuately mine is an hour away and they don't know nothing when you call them. Also living in WV, I'm sure they have already been stolen and sold to pawn shops or other people for their drug habit. You definately got a good deal on all those combo packs.

I saw all of these and a few more at Dollar Tree this week. Most of the new stock looked to be DVDs, there were only about five or six copies for each movie.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I've checked three different Dollar Trees the last week, and nothing until tonight on a repeat visit to my local store.

They had a few dozen DVDs but no BDs. I. Did pick up one interesting DVD though, a bonus disc only for I Know Who Killed Me. Decided to race to the other local store before they closed in 5 minutes and found a bunch of DVDs and exactly two remaining BDs; the Vudu combo packs of Sweetwater and Pete's Christmas.

Also picked up a Joe Hill hardcover horror novel and a couple graphic novels from a new display.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I stopped by the first Dollar Tree I went to where I picked up the BDs before. Their section has been nearly wiped out. Just 2 copies of Sweetwater and some of the work out DVDs left.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

A new shipment of DVDs/BDs has made their way to Dollar Tree.

From the thread in the DVD section and my own experience at a local store today, there are 3 BDs available in fairly large quantities:

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
Rushlights
The Watsons Go to Birmingham

I bought the last 2 as blind buys. I gladly passed on the latest in the Big Momma trilogy.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Though I've tried to be more discriminating in what I buy, I succumbed to Big Momma for a buck. I projected 2 prints of it when it was out (and this was at a theater that rarely played movies on 2 screens!) and have the D-VHS just because it's a dead format. If this one's actually good I might seek out the 2nd one, but the first movie didn't exactly cry out for a sequel let along two of them.

I checked a bunch of stores this weekend and have yet to find a copy of Rushlights, although there were quite a few copies of Dear Dumb Diary.

I think some of these are regional. I hit a couple of Dollar Trees that hadn't been picked over and found multiple copies of Big Momma and Watsons, but no Rushlights. Only thing I didn't get that I was really looking for.

I think they go quickly once a reseller discovers them.

Damn, now I actually have to go. I'd buy Paul Blart, and the others, for a buck... If Chicago got Blart, then Milwaukee might have too...

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Seems like many stores will be putting them out this friday, though you may want to call ahead as its up to the managers discretion

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

No luck at the first or third stores, but at the second visited I saw over 30 titles, including 4 Blu's (though none from GuessWho's pic):

BD:
Without Men
In Too Deep
Allegiance
Assassins Bullet (Only one out of everything not in original shrink)

For DVD's (lots of Magnolia):
Graduation
The Matador
Ira & Abby
The Good Doctor
The Great Buck Howard
The Wackness
Ceremony
Riddle
Yonkers
Vantage Point
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Indecision 2004
Sense and Sensibility BBC
Slumdog Millionaire
Moving McAllister
The Perfect Storm Director's Signature
Little Children
The Forger
Adrift in Manhattan
Raising Helen Foolscreen
Allegiance
George and the Dragon
Alpha Male http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Male-Ewa...dp/B000YVBCTI/
Stardust Foolscreen http://www.amazon.com/Stardust-Full-...dp/B000WZAE0Y/
4 Film Collection: Killshot, Lucky#Slevin, Unknown, The Tournament http://www.amazon.com/Action-Killsho...dp/B00HNGC4WQ/

The 4 Film set North American Predators Wild America was packaged with this one: The Wild Arctic http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Arctic-De...dp/B0015RRNK2/ so 8 discs for $1

These two appear to be oop and trending upward in price ($25 is the minimum Amz. MP on Hunt For Justice)
Checking Out http://www.amazon.com/Checking-Out/dp/B000JJ4FKI/
Hunt For Justice http://www.amazon.com/Hunt-Justice-W...dp/B000HT3P42/

I bought 1 each of nearly everything, skipping 6 titles that I already owned (and clearly overpaid for), Allegiance on DVD (because I bought the BD) and the 2 Fooolscreens (I was bummed about Raising Helen, as I want to get that anyway at some point).

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Based on the previous post, I was there when the store opened today. I had checked the last couple of days and there wasn't anything. As I walked in this morning, there was a DVD sign on the item of the week table, but it was full of books. I asked the employee whether they were located somewhere else and she said she hadn't gotten them out yet. She came back a couple minutes later with a shopping cart with some opened boxes and invited me to look through them while she put the books away.

I was excited to be the first to look over everything, but it was all DVDs. A bunch of kids stuff primarily (Thomas the Train, etc). Then she came back with a few more boxes and started to unpack them and as she opened one particular box, I could tell they were the BDs.

I'd say there were 2-3 copies of everything. But the employee looked at them as she pulled them out and set aside many for herself. I'm assuming and hopeful it was just a single copy of certain ones and I didn't miss anything.

I bought 1 of everything I saw:
Bunraku
For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada
The Matador
Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story
Nights in Rodanthe
Parker
The Runaways (this is in a DVD case, and might be easy to miss)
Stand Off
Sweetwater (already have it, but going to put The Runaways in this case)
Yes Man

After some time, I also purchased from DVDs after checking some reviews, etc.

All I Want
Battle Ground: 21 Days on the Empire's Edge
Checking Out
My One and Only
NFL Greatest Follies (2 Volume set)
The Old Curiosity Shop (BBC)
South Riding (BBC)
The Square
The Theory of Everything
The Tracey Fragments

Glad to have scored what I did, but it looks like not every store received the same thing. This employee told another that there weren't any more boxes of them in the store.
